Scoreboard

Besides the fact that I think Williams Stadium needs a need scoreboard, I was thinking that since they have painted over the backside of the current scoreboard, that it would cool if they painted the new Flames logo on that side. My girlfriend calls LU footballs games just a step above high school games, which last season I had to admit there wasn't much excitement.

agreed on the scoreboard, although Proto would be a better person to ask, I think they'll more than likely put the Football Schedule on the other side you were talking about

Yeah, they used to do that, but I was thinking that with the new electronic message boards around town, that maybe that would be a better avenue for advertising the games than the back of the scoreboard. I'd love to see more excitement at the stadium, but of course it starts with having a winning team that folks want to see.

im hoping jeff barber can get some corporate support and we could have a video screen and call it "flames vision" along with a really nice scoreboard.

That would be cool. The one at Lane stadium for the Hokies is called "Hokie Vision". They have a nice one, although I would be happy just to have one the size of the Hillcats one here in L'burg. My girlfriend said she thought it would be cool that everytime the Flames score, that flames shoot up from the endzone. VT has the cannon shot everytime the Hokies score at Lane.

You bring up some ideas that we were tossing around on the old board. Perhaps its time to recycle them since we now have a new AD and new coaching staff.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who would like to see Flames football grow into something that not only Alumni are proud of, but the community as well. I wasn't a part of the old board...so excuse me if I bring up ideas that have already been discussed. I sure hope the new team at LU can make some things happen. I think it's sad how few people are Flames Club members. I plan to join now that you can get in for $25. I think that will help with recruitment.

This board has grown much larger than the old Firehouse. So no apologies are necessary. In fact your questions are spurring some ideas. Thanks.

I like the pyrotechnics in the endzone idea.
And can I do the old hag thing and complain, "whats wrong with that scoreboard- its practically brand new! I remember when we built that scoreboard" (which I do, and it- along with every other scoreboard on campus- had Coke logo's on it)
yeesh- I annoy myself

It might look better if it worked a little better. I don't even remember the last time the scrolling electronic screen worked. Besides, it's time for video screens. The huge display screens in the Vines center add to the excitement with graphics and replays.

Speaking of painting the logo on the back of the football stadium scoreboard, I think a few painted logos in the Vines Center would go over well too. I like the ones scattered through the DeMoss halls.

Now that they have painted the backside of the scoreboard, maybe they can work next on getting the electronic scrolling text to work on the front side.
Anyone know if they have plans to paint some logos inside of the Vines similar to what is in Demoss?

FYI - This has already been researched years ago and a proposal made the "The Powers That Be". The corporate sponsor is still valid. Someone may want to ring up Kevin Keys, you know the marketing promotions guy, and see if he can drag up the plans and present it.

Cool, what progress already! What did you exactly mean by fire outside of the endzone?

i hope im understanding this correctly but, from what i got out of it there are going to be 2 stands, and at the top of it there's going to fire that bursts out it.

Great! I'm looking forward to being there. Keep us informed of any other cool things they plan on doing. I'm glad to hear that the atmosphere at games will be getting a little more exciting.

VT plays the intro to Metallica's Enter Sandman when the team runs out. It really gets the stadium rocking. We need a cool intro music bit too.
