I know Coach Gillespie is the strength coach now, but does anyone know if Coach Dave Williams is still involved? For me, Coach Williams was truly a "servant leader" to the athletes he prepared for the playing field.

Do they still do the "Squat Till U Drop" program? S.T.U.D - It is awesome!!

My guess is that Dave Williams is as involved as ever. During the football games, he's always standing on the sidelines talking to players and helping them stretch.

Dave had some health issues a couple of years ago and felt that, physically, he could no longer do what a head strength coach has to do. Dave approached the coaches and administration and requested that LU hire Bill on as the head guy and Dave would voluntarily step back to being the assistant head strength coach. Dave is still on staff and is obviously still very involved but the program itself is being run by Bill Gillespie. Bill has always been considered one of Dave's star pupils and Bill considers Dave to be his mentor so I think they'd be the first to tell you that it's a pretty good working relationship for both of them.

Bill was planning to drive that thing cross-country by himself. According to Dave, the two of them planned out six months of workouts during the 4 days it took to get here.

Dave Williams is one of the finest men I have ever known. The LU athletic department is a better department because of his participation through the years.

Coach Williams is the man! He used to push us to the limits but somehow he still got us to like him. And Medic, your schedule is not the only thing that is full of something  :P When I worked with Gillespie my senior year, he got me from 195 to 210 in muscle in about 6 weeks with no Balco issues or anything. I was a senior and wanted to have a good year so he told me to do everything that he said and I would be strong as an ox in no time. They had to order me a new jersey because my medium wouldn't fit. I had to wear #21 instead of #20 for part of my senior year. Those guys definitely know what they are doing.
