From the Roanoke fishwrap last week:
Rockbridge County's Bannon commits to Flames

Robert Anderson | 981-3123

Patrick Bannon played his final high school football game at Liberty University.

The Rockbridge County linebacker has decided the Lynchburg school is where he wants to play his first college game.

Bannon, the Valley District defensive player of the year who helped lead Rockbridge to the VHSL Group AA Division 3 championship game, has made an oral commitment to Liberty.

Bannon will join Bath County tight end/linebacker Tommy Shaver, who committed to the Flames last week. Also headed to Liberty are two other Valley District players -- defensive end Roane Babington and running back Shay Nicholson of R.E. Lee-Staunton.

Liberty finished 6-5 under first-year coach Danny Rocco after a 1-10 season in 2005.

Bannon set single-season and career records for total tackles at Rockbridge County, which lost 29-28 to Richlands in the state final. The 6-foot-5, 248-pound senior also had an offer from VMI.

I think by the middle of the spring semester were going to have a good idea as to what the team is going to look like.....I think next year we will come in as the preseason favorite

If we're not the preseason favorite I would be surprised. But G-W will deserve some love as well.

We certainly seem to have made a big impression on these kids in our own backyard. I'm curious to hear how we've down elsewhere. But it appears we are goping back to a Morgan Hout-esque style of class (shout out to Hburg).

isn't a 5 flat kinda slow for a LB? i guess he will be red shirting anyway so maybe he will be faster

5.0 isn't terrible for an LB.. good enough for the inside.

And those are auto-timed at a combine ... not hand-timed like you see most of the time online. 5.0 would be like 4.8 hand-timed.

I love that.

Never underestimate using the 'Bill as a recruiting tool. Amazing that we're saying that about LU facilities.
