It died for an extended period of time and got lost in the collective minds of most of the posters. In the unscheduled absence of the board, many posters found other venues to express themselves. As the guy who built this site from scratch over two decades ago, I hope it is not terminal. Usually a basketball run would hold enough interest to keep people posting until football season kicked in. Sadly since we lost most of this past season in the board's absence, it will take some marketing to bring folks back to the board. I suspect most don't realize it came back to life. Particularly as it takes great effort to get logged in.

The problem is in accessing. I simply cannot access the site on a consistent basis. Whether its on wifi or cellular more often than not i get the Bad Gateway or whatever message. Apparently this is a known issue but it would cost too much to rectify. Im surprised i was able to access the site but i am out of the Country currently so that might explain it
So while the site isnt dead its taken on the look of a dilapidated shopping mall

Not sure what magical powers I possess, as I've not had any trouble accessing it from Chrome on my phone.

Still here and hopeful that the board will get some life again.

Ditto from BVI.
If the Board was ever easily accessible it would get more lively.

Occasionally I run into bugs/errors, but for the most part I've had no issue getting on here. My biggest gripe other than non-activity is the activity of the armchair bot.

Funny thing is, I made up the LU Armchair Coach name just to blend in with the rest of the ASOR experts. Don’t you just love the profile pick! Figured if everybody else was coaching from the couch with zero info, I might as well get certified too.

Between the basketball gurus drawing up plays on napkins and the football armchair coaches breaking down coverages they learned from TV replays, it’s clear most of these posts ain’t coming from the in the know crowd it’s more like the the living room crowd.

The confidence is elite though — loud takes, no facts, and just enough knowledge to be dangerous. If bad opinions were championships, ASOR poster on this forum would have more sweet 16 or bowl banners than anybody in the country.

We could play Armchair Doctor and rampantly and somewhat inappropriately speculate about HCJC's off-season medical procedure.

I sincerely hope for his recovery and that the doctors/surgeons got him right. The story told by LU and HCJC though is strange.

Serious. But not serious enough for immediate intervention. So serious, it distracted coach in practices (and presumably recruiting) all season with the looming intervention. Never told the players because it was so super serious/not that serious. So serious LU and HCJC are "hoping" no further interventions are needed. Serious enough, he's still recovering. But totally not super serious enough for immediate treatment. Oh and it never distracted him in game. :BS

Got it.

I'm not sure I get this take.

Hugh Freeze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer early in the year and waited until after the season to treat. Jim Harbaugh suffered from cardiac arrhythmia and didn't get an ablation until the offseason. There are plenty of similar examples.

Serious, yes, and potentially life threatening if not taken seriously within a reasonable timeline. Still, it'd be plenty enough to keep me from being at 100% at all times in my workplace.

First off, hoping HCJC is good to go—that’s bigger than anything on the field. But let’s be honest… the story still feels a little too polished. Not saying anything crazy, just that it doesn’t sound like we’re getting the full picture. It’s one of those “serious, but not that serious… but still serious enough” explanations that leaves more questions than answers. And look, coaches playing through medical stuff isn’t new guys like Hugh Freeze coaching from hospital bed at Williams Stadium and Jim Harbaugh have done it. But typically when it comes out, there’s a clearer timeline and less gray area than what we’re hearing here. What adds to the head-scratching? I saw him out this weekend, and he was talking about it pretty openly. So, it’s not like this is something being kept completely under wraps anymore—which makes the original “tight-lipped” approach seem a little inconsistent. And here’s the armchair question nobody’s saying out loud—did Liberty University keep him around another year because they already knew about the medical situation? Not accusing, just connecting dots the way these boards always do. End of the day, glad he’s up and around—but yeah… feels like we’re getting the edited version of the story.

Since they insure HCJC, LU likely has HIPPA restraints that prevent oversharing. There are plenty of medical conditions that would fall under the "serious, but not urgently life threatening" category including various types of cancer (benign and malignant) or heart conditions. I saw HCJC and his family at one of the last MBB home games and he was moving around and in good spirits. I was a little surprised by the announcement that came a mere few days later about his surgery, but it's not shocking.

Any discussions beyond that though on what's happening behind the scenes are out-of-bounds (or should be) imho. If you're a man with a family and have people that depend on you, it's hard not to be distracted in your normal day-to-day work if you're presented with a condition that may challenge your ability to continue performing said work. To say LU played the sympathy card though I think is outlandish. HCJC was always going to have an opportunity to right this ship considering what we pay him. If he did have some distractions last year, none of that should have mattered when it came to the outcome of the games as he had a very capable staff that had all been together for more than a decade and should have been able to operate just fine without HCJC's undivided attention.

Moving forward... I take it that HCJC is feeling much better considering his decision to take on the playcalling duties.

A lot of misconceptions on what HIPPA actually entails. LU can reveal any and all information regarding Chadwell's health.

As long as they have his clear and specific permission in writing to do so.

It doesn't come up that often because (permission or not), for the most part there is really no reason to do so, and thus it is better left unsaid.

For whatever reason I can only use this site if I use a VPN with a server outside of the country and even then some countries don’t work. I’m curious if there’s some security settings just blocking American IP addresses by default.

In the US I can log in on cellular data but not WiFi

Outside the US seems ok and yeah using the VPN with outside US address works

To be honest, the ASOR Board going down and not being put back up more timely contributed to my losing interest in the site. The Board and the Rumor Mill were the best parts IMO. Oh well, but I only check in periodically now.

I've had all sorts of problems with ASOR. You click on their site and it takes 15 seconds to load. Try to log in with your password and it is another 15 seconds. Try to click on an article, another 15 seconds. The forum gives me constant error messages. I will say, today is the first day I've been able to log in and post on the forum in a while. Maybe there is hope.
