Hopefully we'll be adding some names to this list... I've seen offers flying around left and right on X. It seems we're heavily focused on WRs, OL and DBs. We haven't lost a lot of WRs yet to the portal and I think the only one graduating is Sibley, so I wonder if the number we're offering right now is an indictment of the performance of the current group from the staffs POV? Regardless, some of the guys we've offered seem like legit threats, including Trent Hudson, who is a name we should all remember from NMSU.

Should be seeing the portal commits start rolling in.
The list of visitors is impressive!

Who we get in this portal window may be a good view of the future for Liberty now that the dust has somewhat settled on revenue sharing/NIL. It’ll be interesting to see how well we do. The rumor mill has some interesting tidbits about a couple of visits for those who subscribe.

We got our first addition from the transfer portal. A redshirt freshman running back from Georgia Tech. Looks to be a good depth addition. We certainly dont have a shortage of young talented running backs. Now I'd like to see an upperclassmen with some experience.

Agreed. We basically added an inexperienced piece to a room full of inexperience at this level. A lot of OVs have happened now, so you'd expect some commits to start coming in, or at least you'd hope. I know a couple of our targets have been to other schools on OVs recently as well (Trent Hudson at UNT for instance). I hope we're able to beat some of these schools out for our targets.
Portal closes on the 28th? There's a lot of dust out there still to be settled. I think there's going to be a flurry of activity. The timing of all of this is so disadvantageous to the sport. They need to fix this so that the portal doesn't open until after the playoff is over. To make it fair, the same should apply to the coaching staffs. Schools shouldn't win a Conference Championship only to lose their HC the week after and be scrambling to deal with the aftermath before an important bowl game (ie. Jax State and Marshall).

Experience is not as important at RB as most positions. It's all about athleticism and instincts.

Instincts are sharpened with experience. There's also a step up in physicality from high school to college that requires some getting used to. I'm not saying this guy can't help, I'm saying there's no one in that room to look up to that has real playing experience like a Cooley or Lucas. That does matter.
We just added an OL from Wingate (a DII program), Erwin Anthony.

Considering how depleted our WR room is these days, this is a HUGE get. He played iin four games at Mississippi State and didn't record any receptions. But we all remember him vs. the Flames while at NM State.
2023 - NM State ............. 35 Catches for 551 Yards with 10 TDs
2024 - Miss State ............ No Stats

It looks like Sibley is the only receiver with a reception this season that isn't returning. This guy looks like he could be a good replace for Sibley on the outside. Idk if we have any other targets at receiver but I'm hoping with everyone healthy and another year of development receiver will be a strength for us on offense next year.

Very concerning so far. A couple weeks ago we had 7 JUCO players overnight. Didn't get one of them. We've had recent visitors commit to ECU, Memphis, and Arizona. Alarming a little bit that we haven't gotten a lockdown cornerback yet, a quarterback, and only 1 WR. This team has so many needs.

My thoughts as well. Portal window is closing in a few days, so I expect to see some movement.

Concerning indeed. Wondering if many who stepped out will step back in.
Regardless, there are many upgrades needed on the OL, WR and DB room.

Keep in mind that JUCO prospects are not bound by the portal windows. It is interesting to see what happens after the portal windows close for current NCAA players and the picture becomes clearer for the JUCO guys.

I wasn’t really impressed with Yates’ play this year, but maybe he could be something more with more playing time.
My biggest concern is WR. We struggled all year with separation it seemed. I’ve seen some offers flying around today to D2 level players. I have to be honest that worries me. We can’t even get FCS guys? We’re reaching for D2 guys?

That helps with depth at CB. I'd still like to see us grab a lock down corner if one is still available but everyone is looking for one.

43 D2 players were on opening day rosters in the NFL last year. There's talent on those rosters to be found.
