As much as Liberty has struggled with slow starts, App State has had it worse. If you remove the games against FCS opponents (Campbell and ETSU):
Liberty in the first quarter: 27 points against, 10 points for. App in the first quarter: 65 points against, 7 points for.

App State now has even more motivation coming into this game, than they did previously. Hopefully, their issues from the UTSA game carry over into this one, but I'm betting they're going to be ready for this one. If KSalt the gamer shows up though I'll feel confident.

Believe it not, it wasn't even UTSA. It was USA .... University of South Alabama. Major's offensive scheme exploited the App State defense practically at will. I am sure that our offensive staff has to be drooling at what was exposed on the game film. Hopefully we continue to get our skill players healthy.

Making the trip to Boone many years ago (coach Sam era) is something I still remember. Most beautiful/scenic stadium location I have ever been to, and a great game atmosphere.

Was my fav trip to make in the SoCon, even a couple of times in a near whiteout snow storm up the mountain.

Helene may have a major impact on this game. I've seen predictions for Boone to get 10-15" of rain on Friday.

The field is turf so hopefully the rain won't affect it much.

Not concerned about the field, but more in getting to the stadium. That much rain in the mountains can be catastrophic to roadways.

My hope the team is there already...

The problem is that there's a stationary front just west of the Blue Ridge that is allowing warm/moist gulf air to flow up the eastern seaboard. Helene's moisture is feeding off of that and the two will do a dance known in meteorology as the "Fujiwara effect." Looking at the latest model trends, the worst impacts of the storm in northwest NC (Near Boone) to Lynchburg VA will be early Friday morning. Impacts will let up in Boone in the early afternoon between 1-3pm and in Lynchburg between 3-6pm. The issue will be the backroads you have to travel to get to Boone, since it's more of a remote location. Weather for the game looks to be okay though. It will be in the low to mid 60s and mostly cloudy, with a chance of light showers. There should be plenty of mud for their students to slide down though

We have really smart people making the decisions on these things. My guess is that unless there is a change, the team will be safely in their hotel in Boone sometime Thursday.

Despite the record of App State, I am excited about this game. Feel like they will really throw everything at us to protect their home field. Going to be a battle. Still feel confident that we will come away with the win. Hope we start a bit faster than we have in our other games.
Fun to note that they have their own "ball coach." Here is a sample post:

Calling for a white out sets you up for just this. We don't need to copy someone else. We have black and we have gold as our colors. I don't mean to be uncoperative but I wore a white shirt to a game that never existed. I have never worn anything but black ever since and never will.

In all fairness, his info may have been good at the time. Unfortunate situation.
