It was improbable but not impossible. Which I realize is a bit too complicated for some to process. But that was the common opinion. At least on this message board.

Everything had to go just right for us to make it with our schedule and it did.

We all know that Ballcoach can be entertaining at times, and that's what I liked about his post: it was purely for entertainment value. 8)

For all those whining and moaning about our "official" ticket sales for the Fiesta Bowl, and how bad this is going to hurt the perception of Liberty in the future, here's a nice article from UConn's trip that gives some background and history on ticket sales directly from schools. If reports are true that we've sold 5k of the 15k allotment, that would actually put us in the upper echelon of schools (at least by the numbers 10 years ago).

As I've already stated, we will have probably 4-5x the number of fans at the game as the official number of tickets sold by LU. Nobody wants to blow the bank on flights out there and then spend an extra 150 bucks that they didn't have to on tickets and "official" hotels for 3x the price. Our fan representation will be just fine, especially considering the distance.

Joel Klatt put up a brief Fiesta Bowl preview (6:14): https://youtu.be/KsYdKDxXJPE?si=J7mDnlXYcX9Ah-l8
  • A few minutes discussing the depth and talent on Oregon's roster
  • Bo Nix is starting his 61st game
  • Compares Chadwell to Kalen DeBoer and Lance Leipold; a guy who "just knows how to win" as a proven HC
  • Brief discussion of the LU rushing attack. No great shocker, but he identifies Washington's success running the ball/keeping Nix off the field as a reason UW won those games and points to that as a blueprint for LU to stay in this game
Nothing earth shattering, but it's fun to see the national talking heads preview a Liberty game alongside matchups like TX-UM, Bama-UM, etc.

In the week after the selection, there were Hilton and Marriott brand hotel rooms much closer to the stadium to be had for $100-$150.

I saw that, it was a good basic preview. I think we're all in agreement that the Flames are going to have to run the ball, control clock, and keep Oregon's offense off the field to keep this thing competitive. That being said, with some new faces on Oregon's D, we need our chances and use the run to set up some play action deep shots here and there as well. CJ Daniels might have his national coming out party. I hope we see more of Smoot than we did in the last few games as well. No clue why he wasn't in the rotation at the end of the season.

Yeah I looked at the hotels (Hilton) right by the stadium (and casino!). They ended up being roughly the same cost as the team hotel.
I’m not sure I’d stay in a Hotel that charged $100/night. Can’t remember the last Hilton Property I saw that low

Dude. We just checked in to the Plaza. WELL worth the Extra $100 or so we paid in total instead of our original room at the Home2 in Glendale. The stuck us in back (prudent) in a cabana room. It is huge and nice. Heated pool and hot tub just out our door. Doorman even played hoops in Israel so we had stories to tell!

That is the one thing I haven’t prepaid for
I have not bought parking either. I read somewhere there is a mall across the street where one can park for free but I am dubious. Going to play it by ear.
I haven’t been there for a few years but any off site parking is gonna be a haul
