What’s the chance that Brewer and or Salter will be available? If neither, this could get ugly fast!.

Brewer should be available. Salter most likely not until after the bye week at the earliest. Although, I would have thought Brewer would have at least been in uniform Saturday and he wasn't. Hopefully he will get some work this week and be ready to play. If not, you are correct. It could get ugly real fast.

Here's hoping their dline is not as stout as gardner-webb's :?

If Brewer didn't even suit up for GW, it doesn't give me a lot of hope he'll be able to really sling it one week later. But who knows until reports out of Tuesday's practice come out, if any.

I've been through hand therapy for carpal and trigger finger release and it's tough. Hopefully he didn't have any nerve damage as they could delay things longer. However, I'm not as young, strong, and athletic as he is, nor do I have his drive and access to professional staff like he does.

If he's not ready to go, I'm sure we'll see Freeze try to slow things down in order to keep the BYU O off the field, but more importantly keep our D off as well. I'm noy sure how long they'll be able to contain the Mormans like they have everyone else this season.

Pretty quiet on this BYU message board: https://www.cougarstadium.com/forum/spo ... yu-liberty

But I thought this quote was pretty funny:

On the plus side, if byu pulls it off, they’ll be 2-0 against Charlie brewer led teams.

In this week's AP Poll, Liberty received more votes than BYU and Arkansas combined.

And we will get beat by both. Wish I could see a path to victory, but just don't see one. Especially without our best QB not available. Even if he is, he will be very rusty.

If Salter and or Brewer were available for this game we might be able to compete and pull off the victory. With JB and Nate I do not think we can score enough points to even keep it close. I hope I am wrong but after what I seen last week, its hard to be optimistic. However, maybe the defense can keep it close.

Sounds like Lofton and Yarborough may also be out for this weekend based on HCHF presser. Still no word on QB, which I don't expect anyway, but Brewer not dressing out scares me. Injuries gonna make for a long second half of the season for sure.

Injuries are part of football, but it seems as if we're having more than our fair share, whatever that is.

I'm not reading much into Brewer not dressing out. I don't think we were anticipating needing him.

Listening to the Flames podcast and they nailed my feelings about this game.
No matter who is our QB the receivers need to catch the ball for us to win. Of course Brewer and Salter increase our chances but the receivers still need to hold onto the ball.
If they hold onto the ball this will open up a chance of running the ball.
They are going to score and we just need to do it more .... go figure.
This will be tough to predict. I feel either we get blown out or we win a high scoring affair. Not sure which way to go yet. All based on my faith in our receivers this week, or my home team feels.

As per Freeze's PC: Yarborough is in concussion protocol (doubtful), Lofton is wearing a boot (questionable), Snead practiced well but is still questionable. Brewer threw well in red zone drills, but he's unsure about deep throws yet. Personally, I think Brewer starts Saturday. But I still think JB & Nate play some as well.

Getting snead back would be big for depth. Getting Yarbrough and lofton healthy enough for this game as well would be even bigger. Brewer is going to need all the help he can get considering how much rust he's sure to have. I wonder if part of the issue is these receivers are getting tired and it's resulting in drops. We started the season with solid depth at WR and now it seems like it's the same 3 receivers all game.

What happened to TJ Green? He is allegedly healthy but only got 2 touches on Saturday before getting pulled. I know HF mentioned a week or two ago that his injury left him out of shape but I wonder if he's actually 100%. I bring this up because HF wants to start using Louis in more of a slot receiver role to give our receivers (mostly Douglas) some rest. Obviously Green getting 2 touches a game isn't going to do much good with depth.

All I know is this bye week can't come fast enough for this team. Luckily most injuries seem to be minor. Barring anymore injuries against BYU we should be relatively healthy heading into the Arkansas game.

Given our current QB situation, I'd be more positive about this game if our bye week happened before it. Our D was on the field A LOT this past weekend. I guess after today we may have an idea where Brewer stands, but I have a feeling HCHF is going to keep that one pretty close to the vest from a strategic standpoint.

If he's not available - we need the 2nd half ODU version of JB to show up for a full game in order to have a chance. I don't think the D is going to be able to win this one for us without some help. BYU has some big boys on the offensive side of the ball.

We'll win this one. I look for the team to be fired up. Last week was a our trap game, we'll be ready for this one.

Based on the replies to the Hugh Freeze "Biggest Home Game" video, BYU fans have more confidence in our Flames winning than we do.

Hopefully, the guys aren't overwhelmed with the "biggest game in LU history" theme. It's a lot to place on young men; hopefully, the coaches will do a great job of helping them have the proper perspective and execute the game plan and not be caught up in the fanfare (ESPN, etc.).

Well considering that we struggled with Akron and Gardner-Webb, I think we're right to have low expectations. If the team that took Wake Forest down to the wire shows up, it'll be a great game that we can win. If the team that played Akron and Gardner Webb shows up, BYU will kill us.

Its funny that both the BYU fans and the LU fans expect to lose on Saturday. Is anyone else putting all your stock on the return of Brewer for LU to have a chance?

Yes :D

If he does play, I'm sure our expectations will be a little unfair given the situation.

If Brewer plays our chances increase, I'd prefer Salter, because our chances would increase even more, he's a gamer. I think Brewer is on schedule to start and I would expect very little "rust" from a 20 something year old who's NFL chances are on life support, he has a lot to prove in very little time and he has a lot of experience, if he's back he'll be at normal strength

It’s so hard to say. I would love to see Brewer just come in and be a game manager. Just Make the right play and get the ball out to to the playmakers. Having a QB that can just hit an open receiver will be a great feeling going forward.

I think Brewer definitely improves our chances. But we really don't know how ready he really is. I'd be more comfortable if we had a bye week before this game with Brewer but we don't. So QB is still our biggest question mark. I still think all 3 QB's play, especially since BYU's run defense is susceptible- probably good for Hampton's thoroughbred package. But I'm still worried about our offense due to the QB situation, then throw in their potent offense. Can our O keep their O off the field so that they don't wear our D down? That's the million dollar question.
