We best not take GWebb lightly. They are better than some teams we have played.

They were beating Coastal in the 4th quarter only for Coastal to come back and win luckily. Definitely should not take them lightly.

. . . . and the GW QB threw for 400+ yards.

Yeah, unfortunately he has 2 ints thrown and GW lost 3 fumbles. When you're an FCS team, hard to beat a team like Coastal on the road with 5 TOs but they almost did it.

This is an important game for our resume. Whereas a win over an FCS team will not gain many style points, a loss would be potentially very hurtful. Remember, bowl eligible does not mean bowl guaranteed. We need to get our passing game in high gear for the upcoming schedule.

Hey - it has been a long time since being here. I had to bug Manson to get my credentials updated. :D

Our QB is solid, but the offense runs through Gaither, he's a special player getting some love from scouts. Defensively our strength is up front. We've had a lot of injuries recently, and were finally pretty much back at full strength at RMU this past Saturday for the first time since the Coastal game, and the results showed it.

We've played a brutal slate so far, mainly due to teams leaving the BSC (and dumb Kyle's ineptitude), Elon and Mercer are both in the FCS Top 20, and we have three money games with CCU, Marshall, and you guys. I would expect with our injury troubles and this being the last out of conference game for the season, that we will show up and compete, but if the game starts to get out of hand, we'll empty our bench and rest up for the rest of the conference slate. This game is the third of a four game stretch on the road until 10/29.

Tre Lamb is a diamond in the rough, unfortunately, he'll be our football version of Chris Holtmann sooner than later, he'll definitely be moving up the coaching ladder in rapid fashion, we are just happy to have him for as long as we can. He's infused the program with much needed energy and talent.

As I was telling Manson via email, things are finally looking up at GW now with Chuck Burch finally retiring and hiring an AD with a clue on how to properly operate a D1 athletic program. I've been disappointed we haven't been able to renew our rivalry on the basketball court, I don't know how tight Tim Craft and Ritchie McKay are, but I thought it was a logical thing to happen, especially after both of our squads special runs in 2019. Maybe the Wuhan jacked up some plans. Who knows. Hopefully it will happen sooner than later.

g-webb,

Happy to see you back again. Don't be a stranger. Didn't know CB had retired.

Glad LU will be Bowl eligible after Saturday. I can start planning a trip to the Cure Bowl or wherever. Had to bail on the Arkansas trip so I need to replace it!

And now you know exactly how Power 5’s look at LU.

Chuck is a good guy, but after that whole debacle in 2002 where both him and the head basketball coach walked away unscathed while the President of the school and a group of professors lost their jobs (whether you liked the President or not), and NCAA probation took place, he should have been shown the door. Chuck was always a yes man, and never stood up to anyone, be it coaches or higher up brass. He'd always wait two or three years too late to fire someone. The on-field/court results more than prove his mediocrity at his job duties.

The man we replaced him with is a good Christian as well, and has experience at Notre Dame, Miami (FL), South Florida and most recently Syracuse, and knows how to raise coin, something Chuck never could do.

Based upon Freeze's PC yesterday, Brewer should be medically cleared tomorrow. But the question is how much progress he's made through hand therapy. I'd imagine he gets in for a few series though. No word on Salter.

Not a game to be overlooked. They played Coastal strong.

Is Gardner Webb ever going to think of going FBS? Would that be an out of the box move for CUSA?

Seriously, that's a pipe dream that isn't happening.

I've really been hoping we somehow drop the Big South and head to the SOCON at some point. Speaking of the Big South, some good news today, Kallander annouced his retirement at the end of the 2022-23 athletic seasons.

Thanks for the input. I was just wondering. Trying to figure out who they could make the transition in NC. I thought of GWU and Elon. Like both schools.

Campbell has some $$$ and is moving to the CAA. They might be a possibility.

Would they really toss away that East-West BBQ Challenge though!?

It's looking like Salter might be out awhile so I guess Bennett is the guy again this week. Brewer could theoretically play this weekend but I hope we don't rush him back just for him to have a set back and not be available down the stretch. We really need him next week and against Arkansas. I think Hampton proved that he's talented but he's not the guy yet.
