Monday’s Coastal Carolina-Northern Illinois Cure Bowl on ESPN2 (0.8, 1.27M) sank 43% in ratings and 52% in viewership from last year.

Last Saturday’s Mobile Bowl (Eastern Michigan-Liberty) drew a 0.7 (+23%) and 1.23 million (+34%).
Well, there's got to be a common denominator on why the Cure Bowl viewership sank from last year and the Lending Tree Bowl's rose this year... :dontgetit

This is interesting, but there definitely is more than one variable at play here. Coastal was undefeated and we were 1 point away from being undefeated. The Cure Bowl probably had it's best matchup ever last year. If we played Coastal this year in the Cure Bowl the ratings likely would have seen a huge dip from the year prior.

It's more interesting that the Lending Tree viewership went up.

Cure bowl was on espn2 and had a much weaker match-up so that's no surprise. Another bowl also was competing against an NFL game which hurt ratings. I believe every other bowl has seen an increase so far so I think it had less to do with the teams involved.

I really wondered as teams dropped from bowl games would they give any teams like LU that already played a chance to play on a bigger stage to fill a slot, but they've been giving the option to 5-7 teams.
