There has been some discussion that some of the CUSA schools could bolt early in 2022 to the Belt. But I don't see any way in which we arrive earlier than planned regardless of what others do.

I suspect Ian is waiting until the dust clears from all of the recent moves to really start re-working these schedules seriously. Thankfully he had the forethought to not over-polulate schedules for us beyond 2024. The good news is that everyone in G5 east of the Rockies will likely be completely reworking their schedules for 2023 & 2024. There could also be triggers in contracts that could allow us exit cleanly if we landed in a league. That might be worth some FOIA requests to state universities on our upcoming schedules, jcmanson.

I suspect we will be cutting loose UMass & UConn in 2023 because they are currently not scheduled to play each other and that would be an easy fix. We have UMass on the 2024 slate and I would assume that game is gone as well. In 2025 they are both on the lineup and will undoubtedly be cut loose.

I think our Coastal series remains intact. It may require moving dates or even years. But I think both schools recognize the value of that series. I think a similar rule applies for ODU.

I also don't see us doing anything with either of our P5 games in 2023 @ UVa & South Carolina. The UVa series in valuable to us longterm. Carolina is an SEC opportunity for crying out loud. Those may be come tougher to schedule moving forward.

Now those four MAC games in the first six weeks are all likely in jeopardy to some degree. Miami (OH) is scheduled for home-and-home with us on the road in 2023 and in Lynchburg in 2025. Ditto for Eastern Michigan in 2023 & 2024. That could easily be scrapped. Same with Ball State in 2024 & 2026. BGSU is the back end of a home-and-home so it is at our advantage to keep it if we so choose for the '23 opener. Buffalo in 2023 smells like a buyout to clear out inventory for CUSA games.

I suspect we try and keep the ETSU date as having a free pass with FCS team is valuable for bowl eligibility. It might slide on the calendar.

All of the NM State games we have contracted in 2023, 2024, 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029 get handed over to the league office. They will just be part of the CUSA round robin. Same goes for FIU in 2024 and MTSU & WKU in 2025.

Our 4 game home and home series with UVA has been canceled. UVA also canceled their series with BYU. Looks like we're already pruning future schedules.

If BYU still wants to come to Virginia, they should come to Lynchburg!

With them only playing 3 nonconference games from now on and boise st being one of them I doubt they would go for that. I would love to play them regularly though. Roughly 4 out of every 10 years would be great.

Utah, Utah St and Boise St. we will schedule ND before we get another with BYU. For sure they won’t fly here again.

Only reason to schedule BYU is because they're a P5 now. I don't see "the one true church" being the least bit interested in developing a rivalry with a bunch of protestants outside thier new conf  We have a better chance of getting one or two games with ND☘
