I'm excited to see our speed on display in the carrier dome. I also think it will benefit Malik in the passing game. Final thought, if J. Mack takes coach Freeze's discipline to heart this week then we may get an extra motivated beast of a man next week playing in his home-state.

Here is the guy that likely will be leading the offense against us on Saturday in light of the severity of the DeVito injury:

Image
#17 Rex Culpepper
6' 3" 221 lbs Senior Quarterback
Thru 4 Games: 8-of-19 (42%) for 113 Yds with 1 TD & 1 INT

Sly, I've been reading the Syracuse message boards, and most fans there think they will be starting a true freshman QB out of Texas.

More important than Gisele being your next door neighbor? We may need to agree to disagree.

It would be a bold move to go with a kid who has never thrown a collegiate pass if Babers chooses to go that route. Here is the Texan freshman:

I would think they give the senior a quarter or so. If things are going south, you see what the future can do.

I still have a weird feeling that SU is going to cancel on us.

Midweek they'll apparently have a few cases of players positive of covid, cancel the game and then later eliminate the game as a whole  . Honestly, so far, those writers who continue to whine about SU not playing Liberty is not getting that much attention from the athletic department.

Yeah, too bad Kind Andrew won't allow any fans. He's from Rochester around an hour away, so there goes his opportunity to play in front of family and friends. Of course, I lose out on seeing my Flames and Orangemen square off in the Dome as well.

Wildhack's answer has been to honor the signed contract. His answer about another contract was closer to not signing another one, but he did leave a little room for a small possibility of another one. That's just my interpretation, of course. But it's not real high of another contract in the near future. Especially, since SU has been pretty liberal for some time, but they've gone fairly SJW-wokie here lately. This past January, they had some "racist graffiti" appear on a dorm wall, and a bunch of Joe Biden voting students accused the school of being racist and occupied the Admin building from February until they closed for the Rona. So I'm sure, the school is trying to avoid another Joe Biden-Antifa incident on campus again. I'll also add, that many in the Syracuse community view SU in the same manner that many in the Burg view LU, minus the Jr. element of course.

Syracuse podcast. In the 2nd half of the video, they basically discuss how the Liberty team is a fraud. That we have beat no one. One writer says Syracuse 31, Liberty 14. The other says Syracuse 27, Liberty 20. Starts at 38:53 in podcast.

Yeah, the best you can say about that sight is that they're very liberal.

Where's the lie?

I don't think we're a fraud, but I also don't think we're a legitimate top 35 team at this point. Our record gives us consideration from people who haven't researched us, but we're not on the same level as most of those teams in the others receiving votes category.

I know Manson thinks people with this perspective "need to take a step back" and stop being "a negative Nancy" but I can't separate the two at this point.

Of our 12 wins under Coach Freeze, two of them have been against FBS teams with winning records (Buffalo and Georgia Southern). Three of them have been FCS wins. The other 7 were against teams with a combined record of 4-41. We lost our three P5 games by an average of 41-30. None of them were within one score.

We are absolutely, 100%, without-a-doubt a team on the rise and have a very bright future as long as Coach Freeze is our head coach.

But we haven't done anything yet.

We have a great chance of changing that this weekend. If we beat an ACC school - even one that's terribly banged up - it's the feather in our cap we haven't had before. It'll put us at 6-0 going into Tech and, with their covid numbers, who knows what can happen then. Worst case we're 7-1 going into NC State and staring down 8 wins by the end of the season.

If we can get a win over Syracuse, Tech, NC State, or Coastal and get to 7 wins, we will be able to say we've done something impressive this year.

If we can get two of those and finish with 8 wins, then the hype will be real and things get really fun.

If we land at 6 wins, we will be ahead of schedule and certainly on the right path forward.

For one, they said our team was more scary last year with Buckshot and AGG. Said Buckshot was better than Willis. They ignore that we have 9 new starters on defense. They say the line is put out there to "get idiots to bet against us (Syracuse)."

I dont think its fair to say we haven't done anything. According to many we would be one of those 4 and 41 teams instead of beating them if you looked at this 3 years ago.

Beating fiu wku Georgia southern Buffalo Troy and odu are all solid wins for the program and even good wins when you consider where we are.

I agree were probably not top 35 but we've won the games on the schedule. Many of those other teams have not. It happens every year. We built the schedule to get 5 or 6 wins and bowl eligibility and not to make the top 25. If it happens thats a huge feat.

This is a huge game though. For many reasons. Freeze wants to matter nationally and the faster and more often we matter nationally the better the chance we have to keep him.

I apologize for the confusion. That statement was in regards to being ranked. We haven’t done anything to deserve that.

We’ve absolutely done things to be proud of as a program.

The program has really progress when we can go on the road to a p5 school as favorites.

We were favored at Rutgers a year ago. We were also the better team but Rutgers hit the only game plan they could win with and still needed
a couple of miraculous catches and breaks to win. We beat them 8 of of 10 last year.

I don’t think last year’s team is in the same zip code as this year when it comes to sound football and better athletes with some great coaching instilled. This Syracuse team has some issues on D Line against the run but can still bring it on the pass. Their O Line vs our D line will be key to this game - can our LB’s come and and fill the hole or trying to tackle that big back 3 yards past LOC. I know we can get pressure on the QB - we need to get ahead and force them to throw. Malik better quit carrying the ball like a loaf of bread when he scrambles - this might be best team in country at forcing fumbles. Cuse will get some big plays - they live and die on the long ball. Bottom Line - Cuse has really good players in each position group ( much better than Rutgers 2019 ) but they don’t play consistently, fundamentally, complimentary football. Can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
