Coastal Carolina, Liberty add three games to future football series

The two schools also have a previously announced home-and-home series scheduled for Sept. 9, 2023 in Conway and on Aug. 31, 2024 at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Va. The series was scheduled back in January 2018.

Today, Liberty and Coastal Carolina announced the addition of three more games to their series. The two schools will meet in Conway on Sept. 18, 2027, and in Lynchburg on Oct. 14, 2028 and then again the following season on Sept. 29, 2029.

The Flames and Chanticleers are long time Big South rivals where one of the teams claimed at least a share of the conference title 11 out of 12 seasons from 2004 to 2015. The current series is tied 7-7.

Good news. Starting in 2023, we will play Coastal 5 of 7 years. Regarding the schedule, the November 14th game in 2026 absolutely must be a hard team. The end of the season schedule that year includes, James Madison, at UMass, Open Date, New Mexico State, Army. A weak team on Nov 14th would give us 4 weak teams in a row on the schedule.

It's good to see we are developing some consistency to our schedule so we can hopefully develop some rivalries at the fbs level.

I don't really see a downside to this except for the "they aren't p5 so why are we wasting our time on them" argument.
