Focus on Syracuse for our P5 win...unless they have a rash of injuries and a different QB - we ain’t pulling the upset. Will give our D fits.

@tyndal23 , as the one who seems to who have done the most homework on our team and our opponents, how do you see the following?:
-our outlook for next week against FIU
-our ultimate regular season record
-our record against the the ACC opponents (inferring 1-2, based on above, but thought I would ask)

I have always been too much of an optimist when it comes to “my” teams, but I could see us 6-0 rolling into Blacksburg, assuming the ACC is not fully fetal by then (said with full affection as both an LU and VT alum).

Did not mean to limit this to @tyndal23

Curious what everyone thinks.

We are not yet at the same level of any ACC teams. Could we luck up and upset one this year? Possibly (think App St. at Michigan), but highly unlikely.
The great news is, that HCHF is making us a better team every day. We are recruiting and getting guys that we could only dream of in the past.
Finally, the thing that really impressed me yesterday was the play of the OL. The most impressive part of that, was the fact that most, if not all these guys, were not HF's recruits. However, due to good coaching, they have improved immensely and don't even look like the guys that were playing 2 years ago. I know that natural maturation had something to do with that. But the improved technique, strength, scheme, have made them a super group. They have been "coached up."

The stats point to us possibly beating Syracuse. We were bigger underdogs yesterday than we currently are for that game. The data says we're actually more likely to win that game than the Coastal game.

I noticed that. I have watched the CCU games and the Syracuse games this year. My impressions from watching the games is that both are pretty good teams. CCU is better that I expected, prior to the season. I suspect that the records of one being 2-0 and one being 0-2 make a big difference.
I am not a huge believer in data, when it comes to sports, even though it is a pretty good predictor of possible outcome. I am REAL happy the data that said we were going to lose yesterday's game was wrong. 8)

I think we have a great shot to beat Syracuse. In 2 games, they have scored 16 points total. Their offense isn't putting up yardage at all. I feel Freeze can scheme offense against anyone, so I certainly think we have a chance. I hope Syracuse does not come in desperate for their first win like Rutgers did last year. That game really left a bad taste in my mouth, especially because I was there in person.
