My niece went to App State and she just told me over T'giving dinner that App State is moving to CUSA. I have not heard that anywhere else, but don't keep up with that stuff much either. Anyone able to say yay or nay to this? Happy Thanksgiving to all. We should all be happy that football is officially back on the mountain. Go LU.
Its not happening RIGHT NOW. To dismiss the possibility is not wise.
And last year's study only advised against stepping up based on current circumstances. Those change over time and to say Appy no longer is thinking about stepping up is untrue. They just aren't in a hurry.
As for CUSA, a year ago they were scouting for potential members when Louisville & Cincy bolted to the Big East. Marshall joined WAC expatriates Rice & SMU to fill the void. So Appy was never offered an invitation. But its possible it could happen down the road. Conference USA is in a state of flux. It no longer is a mighty basketball league it was just a couple of years ago. And its football "powers" (Southern Miss, Houston & Marshall) are second tier even in their best years.
SJ is right...anyone who lives or has lived in NC knows that app did a study and got many opinions from a lot of people and they want to be the big dog and going I-A in the old north state will not provide that luxury.
Would you rather be the very best in I-AA, able to steal the top borderline recruits from the I-A schools, and contend for a national title every year or would you rather be at best 6-5 or 7-4 in I-A and make a bowl game in Boise every other year?
