Not the shootout we expected but it was nice to see the defense put a complete game together.
Thanks to LU 57 for the ticket upgrade!
Loved the game atmosphere. When that stadium finally fills up it'll be a very special place to play.

By the way fellas, we hadn't won 3 in a row since 2017 when we beat Gardner Webb, Duquesne and Presbyterian. Wow, this three game winning streak sounds so much better too because it is FBS!

Funky game. Could have won by 25-30 or could have lost on last play of the game (assuming NM recovered osk).

Did anybody notice "Becki's boys" next to Jerry's Jokers? Kind of disturbing but pretty funny.

Now we can turn our attention towards softball games tomorrow.

Mine was first and still next to my name atthe top of this thread. But that’s ok. Make it all about you Mr Board Moderator Man. Even if you could not keep your kids out of the aisles

My kids weren't at the game. I'm not dragging them on a 5 hour road trip!

Reference the fumble, the ref said he fumbled the ball foward toward end zone. He did not fumble the ball foward. Ball hit ground and a New Mexico player knocked it into end zone, where NM player picked it up and tried to run it out of end zone. It should have been a safety in my opinion.

When was the last time you were an official at a D1 football game? Considering it was called on the field and reviewed on several angles by people with a lot more experience than you have, I give more weight to their adjudication of the matter

Yes, I was there. I've only missed 3 or 4 home games since 2006.

Outstanding showing from the d, especially with wilson and dabney out. We had faulks avery megginson tank land and keitrel out there at corner all night and they played incredible. Avery and clark both had excellent 1 on 1 pass breakups on deal balls. This frosh class defensively is special. Ajayi was flying all over the field and tillmon made some nice sticks on the option stuff as well. Amazing what a change at DC has done.
Offensively man that was frustrating to leave so many pts out there. We ran the ball the best we had all year and controlled the los for the most part. Buck was mobile and extended drives and plays multiple teams. AGG...nuff said. Frith looked good and looks like he could be another deep threat with size. Frankie continues to underwhelm, dropped a wide open td right before buck fumbled. Mack seems to be the best back by far to me. Hes patient and then the first guy never brings him down. Im a pickett guy too but i guess im the only one.
Special teams continue to be much improved. Probert has to make that chip shot and stubbs let one go he should have fair caught but man we are light years better than the last couple years.
It gives me great hope for the program that the 2 sides of the ball that we were bottom 5 in that we look so much different. You know freeze will get the offense where he wants long term and recruiting is on fire. Exciting times. Hopefully the fan base catches on and shows up. I think 8 wins is a distinct possibility.

Red zone needs some work. Probert has got to figure out what’s going on with him, and AGG just gets you jacked up. Our freshmen are a special class.

So nice to have a D that eliminates the long ball consistently and makes an offense work for it all the way down the field - yet another game with over 200 yards rushing that is a meaningless stat in context of the game ( which normally would be a very tough stat to overcome ) I had a feeling HF was going to “establish” the run based on his comments and was afraid we would out coach ourselves - but as he stated - D dictated his play calling philosophy quite a bit. Now, lets not let happen to us last year - big win and then NMSU taking it all way the next week - lets go beat the pants off of em and keep this train rolling. 17 points was a bit disappointing, but O was very solid in all other aspects. AGG should still have the lead - will find out when all games are done and stats updated.

Good:
1. Defense was awesome, especially in the red zone.
2. Buckshot's looking a lot better.
3. Joshua Mack needs to be the RB starter. The one drive he literally took us 60 yards on 4-5 carries. Hickson comes in with 1 good carry, then gets stuffed, and Probert misses.
4. I've been proven wrong. Last week I tried the Volcano Nachos, and this week I tried the 6 boneless wings and the chili cheese fries, and both were really good. The prices weren't bad either,
and they gave me more than 6 wings too.
Bad:
1. Attendance. LUA needs to figure this out. I still think the reserved GA seats is a mistake and that ticket prices are a little too high for CVA to pay for LU football right now.
2. Hickson's play seems to have regressed some. I hope he's able to step it up some. I'd also like to see Boyd get some carries.
3. I like Buckshot being more mobile, but if he's going to run he needs to tuck the ball in.
4. It seems that we always leave points on the field. We should've had 27 tonight easy.

If Probert keeps struggling and we have two scholarship kickers, why not use probert for kickoffs, extra points, and kicks 40 -55 yards out, and have the other guy practice just 20-39 yard kicks? Probert seems to have a bigger leg and he hit the longer one. Just let him do the 40 plus ones plus his other duties, and have the other guy do the chip shots. Just a thought.

The Good:
1 - The nachos really stepped up their game. Chips that stayed consistently crispy. Cheese that was actually hot. Very nicely done
2 - Spent the second half with some friends from college. We are a small college but I’ve been fortunate to see friends from there more and more
3 - AGG. But not just for this game. LU has had other talented players. But they’ve seem to rest on their laurels after a break out year. Not this guy. Whatever he did in the offseason he’s a better player than he was last year. That’s great to see
The Bad
1- I saw Junior. In skinny jeans. No. That’s wrong on every level. Men that age, regardless of physique, should not be wearing skinny jeans that could also be mistaken for yoga jeans. Skinny jeans in general are dangerous territory favored by Liberal hipsters everywhere but there is an age limit
2 - Chicken Wings. While absolutely delicious I feel it’s ageist to only have them on one side of the stadium
3 - The people on the Non Baptist side who were legit saying LU could be Top 20 by the end of the year. Obviously they were violating the alcohol and meth prohibition on campus. That type of talk is ludicrous. Make a Bowl game? Sure that’s possible. Top 20 with a P5 Bowl match up and national ranking? Stop it. Get help. Talk to someone who is trained in helping people.
