On our most recent podcast episode, we discuss the great Liberty football player of all time. Who do you think should be included on this list?
Note: We're only including players in the modern era of LIberty football -dating back to 2006

I went:
Rashad
Mike Brown
Walt Aikens
Kevin Fogg
AGG
While it's not fair, I think Calvert would've replaced Mike Brown had we stayed FCS.

I think we should re-do this at the end of the year due to AGG has 8 or 9 more games to show off his GOAT like status.
If I had to give my top 5 from the list it would be:
1. AGG
2. Rashad
3. Walt Aikens
4. Mike Brown
5. Woodrum

I dont know how lemonier isnt on here. Sure aikens is the sexy name because hes in the nfl but sheer results here and considering fbs lemonier agg and rashad are top 3 to me. I would go mike brown and either peterson or hagen to complete top 5
I have lasting images of aikens head down after atrocious games against pc and gdub. Maybe it was because he was out of position but still.
I mean AGG is leading all of FBS and he will be drafted much higher than rashad.

My top 5, though not indicative of the order I would vote them:
1. Josh Woodrum
2. Rashad Jennings
3. Antonio Gandy-Golden
4. Darrin Peterson
5. Kevin Fogg
Lemonier definitely is a very good player, but given he only will have worn the Liberty uniform for two seasons,he is not quite GOAT level I think. Certainly top 5 defensive linemen, but not quite enough of a body of work for top 5 of all Liberty players overall in the last 13+ seasons

Doesn't the "AT" in GOAT stand for ALL TIME? If so, then Eric Greene HAS to be on that list!
If you begin with 2006, then you have to call it GO2006.

I've revised my list from the one I put in the RedSpin twitter thread, where I decided there should be a lineman included and picked the best one we ever had IMHO, Mike Godsil. I also decided to ignore what they did in pro ball and focus only on their Liberty career.
Rashad
AGG
Jacob Hagan
Mike Brown
Buckshot
Hagan instead of Aikens because after further consideration, I think he made more big plays in a Liberty uniform.
I decided this list had to include Mike Brown, who was probably in the top 5 ever at 2 different positions.

Trying to wrap my brain around that last statement. No doubt Buckshot would have put up bigger numbers if we had stayed FCS, but as it is, he is going to totally rewrite the record book, and do it against better competition. I think he deserves a lot more love than he is getting here.

It's hard to look at just numbers considering how different the offense was 10 years ago with Mike compared with what it's been the last few years.
Had we stayed FCS, I don't think Calvert has the interception issues he had last year or the two terrible games he had at the beginning of this year. Going against better competition made him play worse. He also didn't have the benefit of having Brandon Streeter as his OC.

If were saying longevity matters the most then agg petey mb and hagen lap the field. Mb contributed all 4 yeaes and the otber 3 were heavy heavy 3 year starters with limited results their frosh year.
I still put lemonier up there in 3rd or 4th. Hes going to put up back to back double digit sack years In FBS, maybe tfls too. Only agg and rashad have impacted the game more than lemonier to me.
Id go buck over woodrum but neither in top 5.

I don't discount that Lemonier is not a VERY good defender, but I do think longevity matters (sidebar: why in the world have the SIDs not updated the football records to include last season? Now theyre gonna have to do two years worth of stats after this season). If he plays for three years, he probably ends up top 5 in sacks and TFL at least (those top 5 total tackle numbers are absolutely insane) and then I could see him being top 5 potentially.
The thing with AGG is that even though he had limited contributions his freshman year, he STILL will rewrite the receiving records in essentially three years by the time this season is over.

I agree on AGG. If he finishes what he started this year hes number by far to me.

I know this is all for fun, but I don't see how any one of us could keep AGG out of the top 2. AGG has gotten better every year and he may be the highest draft pick since Eric Green. Not to mention some of the things AGG has done as a receiver are unprecedented at LU regardless of the position.
I can see how Rashad is number 1 on many of your lists because he was a monster at RB for us and had a very good NFL career. But AGG with the pace he is on will finish first in receiving yards in all of college football. How is that not GOAT status?

I don't see Jennings at #1, probably closer to 4 or 5. I would have to pick AGG, if we limit it to 2006. However, I really don't see anyone coming close to Eric Green. He was in a class of his own. Woodrum? Please say you are not serious. IMHO.

He may prove me wrong, but I don't see any way AGG can keep up this pace statistically. Defenses, who admittedly are already paying a lot of attention to him, at some point are going to say "if they are going to beat us, we are going to make someone else do it" and throw everything but the kitchen sink at him. Considering what he did to NM last year, it very well could start Saturday. Then it becomes a question of whether the other receivers can take advantage and Buckshot can and will spread the ball around.

For the record - mine were in order of timeline, not who I thought was best.

Jennings has to be 1 or 2 on every list.

I just listed my five, but like I said, it doesn't necessarily reflect how they would rank. Every one of them in some way or another has left their mark on the record books.

We have had 1 first round draft pick and 1 all pro NFL player in the history of the school (Eric Green).and he is not eligible to be considered The GOAT?
This criteria makes zero logic.
