I’d like to see LU play for the Bahamas Bowl and the Heart of Dallas Bowl in the future Lord willing

Has a transition team ever been waivered into a bowl game if there aren't enough true eligible teams? If Liberty were 7-5(getting 5 FBS +1 FCS) and the alternative is allowing a 5-7 full FBS team in.

How many of those are open to Independents?

Several tried in the last couple of years. I believe two years ago when Georgia Southern won the Sunbelt in its first year in the league they petitioned to be entered into a bowl which was denied. That same year they petitioned the NCAA to play UAB who had just restarted their program to play in a "bowl" game. which wasn't really going to be a bowl but both petitions where shot down.

My how things have changed. As kid there were 4 bowl games and they were all in New Year's day - Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Cotton Bowl and Sugar Bowl - very simple, life was simple

Growing up in the '70s, we had about a dozen bowl games. Unless you followed one of the superpowers, bowls were never part of your college fandom experience. I actually applaud the expansion of the bowls. Sure they have watered down the significance of the game, but they provide great experiences for fans and give coaches additional opportunities to improve their teams as a reward for not being terrible.

So this is not for this years bowls but per Brett McMurphy the NCAA is increasing its bowl games by 3 in 2020 which gives 65% of FBS schools a chance at a bowl game.

We still have to hope that the SB, MAC, or CUSA can’t fill their spots. We could conceivably go 8-3 and not go to a bowl.
Liberty Bowl (not Memphis) will be third bowl added but not mentioned. LU vs. rotating conference opponent.

Yea I’m not worried about the sun belt filling every spot. As bad as their conference usually is outside the top 2 every year and having a 65% chance of going bowling I’m thinking we’ll be fine most years.

We have nothing to worry about. Until we get some new leadership, we will be watching Bowl games on TV. It may take a while, even after a change. Not expecting the current regime to realize defense is also part of the game.

Any chance LU gets a tie in? The Myrtle Beach one would be good with me.
