Liberty Head Football Coach Turner Gill has promoted Aaron Wilkins to the position of defensive assistant coach. Wilkins will start working with Liberty's defensive line during the upcoming spring workouts.

Surprised he couldn't/didn't find someone better, especially with his butt on the line. Maybe he was restricted by budget concerns and couldn't hire someone that will actually be helpful. He needs to fire the DC, but has already said he won't do that. Decisions have consequences.

I don't think $$$$$ had much to do with hiring new assistant. Should have hired an established defensive Guru.

Putting my desires for a more experienced and successful hire aside. I DO HOPE that Wilkins succeeds. I think we all do. I am happy for him in regards to the opportunity and for the pay raise as well.

Time will tell and hopefully this hire proves us all wrong.
