Well I would dare say Williams Stadium will be a little bit larger by the time 2022 rolls around...

Whether it holds 25,000 or 40,000 I dare say it will be full.

I would like this to be a new non-conferemce rivalry that will become a tradition.

The ODU home-and-hame extension is significant as well:

Virginia Tech simultaneously announced not only the deal with us but also home-and-homes with BYU & ODU. This group of schools is forming a nice little pack of scheduling dates.

It should also be noted that while we were essentially signing back-to-back 2-for-1s with Virginia tech, ODU committed to double digit road games to Blacksburg through 2031 with no return games to Norfolk. That demonstrates not only the cunning of our AD and his staff to score these home dates, but it also illustrates how different our approach is to these games from ODU who has CUSA scheduling on their side and a lack of a stadium solution in order to host the Hokies. They likely also appreciate the guarantees a bit more than us as they get squeezed by state budgets.

Unless I'm cross eyed, they committed to home and homes, not all road games.

I was the one looking at it cross-eyed:

Sept. 23, 2017 – ODU at Virginia Tech
Sept. 22, 2018 – ODU vs. Virginia Tech
Sept. 7, 2019 – ODU at Virginia Tech
Sept. 10, 2022 – ODU vs. Virginia Tech
Sept. 2. 2023 – ODU at Virginia Tech
Aug. 31, 2024 – ODU vs. Virginia Tech
Aug. 30, 2025 – ODU at Virginia Tech
Sept. 12, 2026 – ODU at Virginia Tech
Sept. 11, 2027 – ODU vs. Virginia Tech
Sept. 9, 2028 – ODU at Virginia Tech
Sept. 22, 2029 – ODU vs. Virginia Tech
Sept. 21, 2030 – ODU at Virginia Tech
Sept. 6, 2031 – ODU vs. Virginia Tech

And in case you are wondering, VT's schedule through 2030 is now completely booked up. We were able to snare some of their last slots.

Fairly impressive they could land a true home& home that many years in a row, VT seems pretty generous to the local G5s.

I think it's a convergence of complimentary philosophies. VT wants to be THE State University when it comes to Football. What better way to do that than mix National powerhouse games with in State winnable FBS games. Liberty and ODU fit that to a T. With the games in Lynchburg on the schedule it gives them the ability to buy out if need be.
It's still a great get.
Now, about winning these games.......

It has to help on the recruiting trail.

That is pretty much the point here. It gives them the ability to be seen all over the state. Prospects that normally wouldn't be able to see them can go to the games. It also will allow for there to be some interaction between coaches and prospects that wouldn't be if they weren't playing the games.

That makes 5 ACC schools scheduled for The Bill. Duke, Wake, VT, UVA, and Syracuse.

They're really going to make us all hate the idea of a G5 conference with scheduling like this.

Kinda like the flood of 4 and 5 star recruits this year.

I know you are using hyperbole, but that is carrying it a bit far. The only 4 star recruit who has been mentioned here is a 2019 TE, and the only reason anyone thinks he might possibly come to Liberty is both of his parents are alumni. A quick reminder that the only G5 program that has signed ANY 4 stars in the last few years is BYU, and they are really a "tweener" that is considered a P5 by some conferences where scheduling is concerned. We are hoping for a bump in 3 star level players in the 2018 class, and it hasn't happened yet. Too early to panic.

For those who are trying to compare our 2018 class so far to Coastal's, you are looking at the wrong year for the beach chickens. Their situation with the 2017 class is more comparable, and I don't think they exactly hit it out of the park with that one. We won't really know how they did for another year because I think they are redshirting almost the entire class.

2020 and 2027 has LU already scheduled with 3 ACC schools.
2020 @VT @Syracuse @UVA
2027 @Duke @VT UVA@LU.

9 of the next 12 seasons already have 2 or more P5 games scheduled.

2024 is still the hole in our schedule. Absolutely nothing has been announced for that year.
