I look at the Coach Freeze thing along the following lines:

1. Liberty helps a fallen Christian atone for their transgressions (humanly speaking).
2. Liberty gains a friend who may help the university in the future through scheduling, conference affiliations, recruits, etc.

I don't see him as a future coach at Liberty. I think he would be a two year rental at best. I think administration will be looking for a longer term situation.

What if you hire him with his coach in waiting? You get the star power short term and the consistency long term. If the Coach, CIW, and AD all know the reality there's no point being coy. Just do it.

Even the saved need saving ... looking for perfection can be a fallicy.
However, some transgressions weigh heavier than others.
Pornography or sex addixctions are common but paying for the service rather than developing it is a fine detail that really does require consideration. I am not sold where I stand on this as I do not believe all the informtion required to jump but as of now I would say NO.

Just a thought, would Rashad be interested in the coaching job? Obviously it would be an outside the box hire but it’s worked well for CCU. Obviously Joe is different but the out of box thinking has worked for them so maybe this would be an option for us. Thoughts?

Joe was a successful businessman used to running an organization with people who answered to him. Much like a FB HC. I’m not sure Rashad has that life experience yet

If Rashad wants to be a coach, I believe he has the smarts and the charisma do do very well at it. I just think he would have to go the more conventional route and start as an assistant.

Agreed. But I was just answering the question asked

If this is true, then the regents did Briles dirty. Of course this is business, so it is what it is. Like i stated before, I don't care what the media put out to the masses because they cover up many cronies and wicked people all the time and exaggerate many situations that contain loopholes and flaws. Should Briles come to LU? I don't know if he would but also don't know if he is the coach for us. McCaw knows that the NCAA is pure business and politics, so I wouldn't think he will take that risk.

I'm still not sure what he did to deserve being blacklisted from coaching... Everything I have read has been so vague and more about a leader being able to control all hundreds of his employees/players. That is an impossible task and people should be held accountable for what they do, not for someone else's mistakes. I don't see anywhere where he ignored laws to protect a player.

I would be happy to have him and give him a chance to redeem himself.

Liberty has made a friend in Freeze but I can't see us hiring him. Some P5 desperate for wins would come along and pluck him for their program after a few years of rehab. Coach Briles in a different story. He is 62 years old. Despite his proven abilities, most if not all, P5 schools will be looking for someone younger. LU could offer him a unique challenge to look forward to. He would have an opportunity to build a fledgling Christian BCS school into a national power from scratch. Plus, after what he have been through he may rather work for someone he is comfortable working with.

That is interesting perspective, but will McCaw/ JFLJR take that risk?

The contracts that Kendal Briles & Randy Clements signed when hired by Houston had a strict morals clause in it that gives the university an out if new revelations come out showing that they were personally responsible for illicit activities at Baylor. I sure LU would do the same. And excuse me, I meant to say FBS instead of BCS.

I am coming around to the same thought.

I suspect strongly that Jr's link to this article, has more to do with Ian M than Briles. It shows that there were a lot of conclusions made about the BU situation, before the facts were known...................... think Duke Lacrosse, UVA, etc.
Bottom line, it doesn't matter who it is, as long as we get a new coach, the program will be better off. The sooner the better.

I don’t agree with the “anyone would be better” philosophy.

Pretty rough article out there centered around freeze and mullen by steven godfrey. Ian rappoport RT'd it. Its really long but a great read. Does not make freeze or mullen out to be very virtuous men and not just from the escort service. You never know how much of that stuff is true but its def a red flag.
