KSU isn't very good...we're just that bad. Look at who they've played......nobody besides Samford and they lost to them. We're terrible on both sides of the ball.

I'm all good with an up and comer. Tubberville and Briles are almost zero chance in my opinion. I've heard Mccaw wants to leave the whole Baylor mess behind and with good reason. Patulski is a back office guy and has no connection the scandal. Will need to look back through Ian's past stops and see if there any connections that have risen from them that are top coordinator's somewhere. I just don't want any retreads like Mike London or Hugh Freeze either though they were dismissed for different reasons.

Jonathan Carone wrote:I’ll save the trouble in looking through McCaw’s past:

As an AD, he’s had three head football coaching vacancies. He hired:

Northeastern - Don Brown
UMass - Don Brown
Baylor - Art Briles

Don Brown is currently the defensive coordinator at Michigan and makes $1.5 million per year.

Art Briles is Art Briles.

McCaw’s track record says he finds an up and comer who he can elevate and build a program around. One of Jr’s biggest issues with Barber was that he wasn’t very good at hiring coaches. Will he trust Ian or will he be more involved due to past mistakes? The answer to that will determine where we go next.
Sounds like it could be the 62 year old Don Brown. He’s 95-45 as a head coach. Not too bad lol

Mark Helfrich (fmr HC of Oregon) – Former P5 coach, who is young and would bring some creativity to the offense.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Helf ... _football)

Tracy Claeys (fmr HC of Minnesota) – Interim coach who earned the trust and admiration of his players (unlike Gill), helped the Golden Gophers to become one of the best defensive teams in the Big 10.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracy_Claeys

Al Golden (fmr HC of Miami) – Turned around Temple, but sucked at Miami.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Golden ... _football)

Mike Singletary (fmr HC of San Francisco 49ers) – Jim Harbaugh with more toughness, and is an ordained minister.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Singletary

Mike Houston (HC of JMU) – All he does is Win, Win, no matter what…

Brent Venables (Clemson) – Brings energy and vision to create a strong defensive unit.

Tee Martin (USC) – Former Nat. Champ for the Vols and current Offensive coordinator for the University of Spoiled Brats.
http://usctrojans.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1 ... h=football

Dave Aranda (LSU) – Coach O, and staff will most likely to be canned. So why not grab one of the best DC’s in the SEC.
http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.db ... =210610891

Manny Diaz (University of Miami) - Coached at Texas, and now Miami. This is a guy who can recruit talent, relate to his players (i.e. the Turn Over Chain) and bring an aggressive style of defense to the Burg.

Jeremy Pruitt (University of Alabama) – Comes from the Saben coaching tree
http://www.rolltide.com/coaches.aspx?rc ... h=football

Brandon Streeter (Clemson) – Former Asst. coach at Liberty, and is rocking a National Championship ring from last season.
http://www.clemsontigers.com/ViewArticl ... =209802571

Kevin Wilson (Ohio State) – Former HC at Indiana. This guy would make Buckshot shine on the national stage
http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports ... 35272.html

Greg Schiano (Ohio State) – A Rutgers Jersey guy trapped in Ohio, until a head coaching job comes up. Guaranteed he could turn the program, but I can’t quite see him wanting to be in Lynchburg.
http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports ... 98478.html

Sonny Cumbie (TCU) – Current offensive coordinator for the Frogs, and has youth on his side (36 years old)

All of those are simply recognizable names that won't win very many games.

Okay, then please enlighten me on why these individuals can’t win any games.

A little Jeopardy.

The answer is .... A NCAA P5 assistant football coach that once coached at LU who went on to win a national championship with an ACC team.

Question is, Who is Brandon Streeter?

But is that name splashy enough? This hire HAS to grab headlines. I don't think Streeter does that.
Now if it was Jason Street, Texas HS FB Legend, that would be different :D

I agree with Purple, in that hire has to be headline grabber. I do not think it will be a no name.

Let us not forget that Bob Stoops is available.

Who? South Dakota? Yeah those two things disqualify him immediately. That's not to say he wouldn't do a good job but he doesn't fit the LU hire profile

Yeah South Dakota, he is a winner. Obviously the LU hire profile isn't working. Time for a new direction.
