I agree. The win vs. Furman does look nice. But having to struggle to a victory over D2 Missouri S&T doesn't put much fear in the hearts of anyone.

That offense will be a challenge to manage primarily because we don't face anything like it on the rest of our schedule. Think VMI different back in the day.

Furman is horrible this year so that win isn't that impressive.

KSU didn't take the jump I thought they would. They're a mid road Big South school we should beat by two scores.

What concerns me is us, not KSU.

Thanks again Sly...this weekend has been interesting thanks to Hurricane Matthew basically defying all the forecast models...we lost power at my job and after power was restored, had to spend most of yesterday throwing out all of our perishables save produce and didn't even get to open for customers until around 6 PM. I'll be back on it for next week.

Furman has a horrible record this year (0-5) but they have played a killer schedule They hung with Michigan State, lost close ones to Chatty and El Cid (both undefeated and ranked) and spotted KSU a 42 point lead before closing it to 7 and losing by 10

Because of who they have played, it's tough to get a real handle on how good KSU is I'm glad we have the extra week to prepare for the option History seems to show that is helpful

I love how people are drawing conclusions about KSU, from a close three quarters against a D2.

Do I need to remind you that we struggled with Brevard for three quarters...the year we made playoffs? Don't read too much into it.

When we played GSU last year, we had more fans than they did...and it was their homecoming. I know we have a fairly strong presence in Atlanta...so, it will be interesting to see what kind of crowd we'll have. We'll actually be in ATL Saturday, but we're headed out that morning unfortunately.

What is the best way to protect a decimated O-line? Up-tempo pace and quick plays i.e. bubble screens. Fast pace will give the big fellas the help they need to stay fresh and take the pressure off dominating the LOS. Fingers crossed.

I see all these positive things being said about Kennesaw State and I can only think one thing...

They can be beaten. As obvious as that may sound, there is no reason to be intimidated by them. We need a lot of new faces to step up (even if it means burning a couple redshirts in the process), but I still think we can end our disturbing trend in first road meetings with new Big South members.

Intimidation is not even close to being in the equation. Their athletic department is chalking this up as the biggest home game in program history. Liberty is still very much favored to win this game.

Sometimes I just have to :dontgetit BJ What redshirts are you possibly thinking would help us enough at this point to play them There are 2 OL, Zapata and Burroughs, but while they have potential, neither is really ready Any "new faces" that would step up would more likely be walkons, but more likely we will struggle through with the guys who have been playing and pray noone else gets hurt I can't think of any other position where we are so thin we would even consider burning a redshirt at this point

What's funny is I was the DJ at a wedding in May and when I introduced the bridal party I introduced the folks form West Virginia as being from God's Country

Since BJ brought it up (and i'm glad he is safe); NC got hammered. i've been deployed since last Sunday to Princeville and Lumberton and many of our citizens can use all the prayers you can muster. It's really bad, almost to the extent of Floyd in 99'.

As for the Kstate game. I feel pretty good about our chances...mainly because of our D. Last year they ran the ball fairly effectively against us, but we survived. I really think our run defense is better than last year. BUT...we are on the road and LU has never been a guarantee when we aren't at home. Winning by two scores is possible if we show up.

We had major sections of some neighborhoods with houses declared unlivable after Matthew because of the level of flooding that we went through. If you watched the evening news on the local affiliates all week, you saw house after house with the first floor basically gutted because of the floodwaters destroying everything...and the single story houses where people basically lost everything they had...many lives both here and in NC have been significantly changed and itll take a very long time to get back to something even close to normal. All that because the system tracked only 100 miles off the forecasted track heading into the day last Saturday

Back to the game...As is always the case with an option team, we HAVE to be assignment sound, especially with a good runner in Burks triggering the offense for them.

We have the speed on defense to contain their running game. The question is, once they get to the runner will they actually wrap-up the guy and tackle him. If we start tackling and Calvert will start taking the low hanging fruit after Shells takes the top off the defense, I think we can run the table. Fortunately, Calvery has a few games to gain experience before we get to CSU & CCU.
