I'm not nearly as concerned with the score of this one as I am how we look doing it. We will beat them, but how Masha and the OL look doing it is the most important thing this week.
I completely agree with you on this. Both have to improve and I would love to see the RBs show out as well. Hopefully Probert will have the chance to kick a few FGs as well. Experience for him is vital as we move on in the season.

I am looking for >60%, 225+ yards and 2+ TDs. Does it truly matter if it's on screens and short passes? No, not at all. If that's the way the offense is supposed to be run, then great. If it's efficient and effective, who cares how points are put on the board?
Edit: efficiency and accuracy are more important than stat stuffers for this game.

Glad Masha listened to me this week. I take full credit. Side note, he didn't need screens to display his accuracy - the deep ball looked beautiful this week.
A few thoughts from watching from my couch this week...
Mike Tilley is top 10 worst play-by-play announcers and he has been for some time now. Matt Warner is consistently correcting Mike on players names, ball spots, penalties, and yards gained/lossed. It's embarrassing. Matt should at worst be the play-by-play guy, but I agree with Jon, the job should be Nick's. If the athletic department wants the best game experience for all fans (in attendance and watching at home) then this is a change that needs to be made sooner than later.
For the game - Masha was outstanding. Disappointed by the 1INT on his stat-line because that should have been a TD and it was a beautifully thrown ball. Serious zip on that pass. I was actually impressed by Masha's arm strength this game and his accuracy was superb. He did not get to showcase his legs and that is back-to-back weeks, starting to wonder if that will be utilized in week 4.
Calvert has a very strong arm, impressed by some of his throws. He managed the 4th QTR well.
The RBs were outstanding. Macon was good, Mosely was great and Hickson was electric. Can't say enough good things about this group and it starts up front, so major kudos to the OL.
The Defense was suffocating. Jacksonville's poor play helped, but our guys were flying to the ball. We should have great success against KSU come conference play.
The Special Teams unit was outstanding. Very happy for Probert, he got some much needed experience and can exhale after going 2/2 on FGs. King broke ankles on multiple occasions, which was exciting to watch.
We were the better team and we overpowered Jax. It's one thing to be better, but it's another to execute on all cylinders and we did that in dominating fashion. That's what you want to see out of a game like this, nice win!
Jonathan Carone wrote:You devalue the competition to degrade Masha's performance but fail to address that Masha looked a lot better than Calvert this weekend.A couple (as in 2) would be it, because he completed 7 of 10 and had one dropped by Gandy-Golden
Calvert's potential may be there, but he made a couple bad throws vs a non-scholarship team with 50+ freshmen.
forbidden wrote: No, I probably won't listen to you, because it is what it is. This game was needed for him, but in all honesty what did you expect, they went from a very good team to a very bad team, he was supposed to do what he did. If he didnt then rest assured there would be a problem. I will let the season play itself out, Ive said what ive needed to say, when I can watch other college programs play their TF, so to say hes not ready or that he can't his straight garbage. At the end of the day if they win its all gravy. You can't have it both ways. Masha executed and with high efficiency. That's what I (we) was (were) looking for this week. My big question was if he could bounce back and execute at a high level against an opponent he should execute against. He did and at a very high level. Kudos to the O-line for not committing procedure penalties after the debacle that was VT.
Impress me when the competition gets a little better
