That is not what I'm saying and you know it. Would I like to be top 3 or 4 one day? Sure...but I'm not sitting in front of my keyboard going, "ooh...that Richmond, we should be where they are...I mean, we have tons more resources and facilities than they do."I hope we get there, but I'm not gonna stew over a team we won't meet this season...if we get to the playoffs and match up with them, I will root for us to knock them off, but until then, i say good for them and lets get ready to pound the Dolphins next Saturday

Yes, we have more resources than Richmond, or anyone else in FCS, but let's not feel sorry for the poor little Spiders We're not talking Chuck South here They have a solid and well-heeled alumni base and a beautiful new stadium, which is the size it is because that's what they wanted Their other facilities are well above average, and they are smack dab in the middle of one of the nations recruiting hotbeds

Other than maybe the margin, I was not surprised UVA lost this one I think Mendenhall was a good hire for them, but he has a lot of work ahead of him He took over (since we are in Cowherd mode already) a dumpster fire

HMMMMM.........isn't this the same coach had done all he could do at Liberty/ who wasn't good enough for us anymore/the same one who has won several playoff games / the same one with many of our old staff/ the same one with limited resources/ the same one who is a class act ? The one who is clearly the best football HC in VA.

I don't think any of those negative things about Rocco are true. He was let go because his ambition made him cut some corners he normally wouldn't cut otherwise. He also had more power than a football coach should have. It got to the point where a change had to be made. He's still one of the two best leaders I've ever worked for and you very well may be right about him being the best football coach in the state.

Let go? I thought he left of his own volition, but I may be naive about such things.

I told my wife when I heard that Richmond beat Virginia that the comparisons between Rocco's success at Richmond and Gill's success at Liberty would begin anew, and so the fact this thread exists is no surprise.

I don't know enough about the situation in Richmond to make a comparison but if I'm being honest, yes, I think we should be doing as well in the FCS as they are, if not better. The bottom line may be that persuading football players of a certain caliber to come to a Christian school for a Christian-infused education and Christian-led coaching is a bridge too far. The parents may love it - the young men, not so much. That's just my guess.
