Pretty significant loss with AJ. really disappointed that things didn't work out. Several of these kids were fairly well regarded coming out of HS. It goes to show that it is tough to tell which signees will turn into longterm contributors.

You knew something was brewing when we added the juCo o lineman late. Passmore and majors are probably the 2 biggest losses. Hope to see some of these guys back on the roster in the fall.

That's quite a bit of attrition. A lot of them are walkons, but I count at last 6 scholarships that have opened up. Looks like the staff will be spending a lot of time courting potential transfers this Spring/Summer.

Yeah, I am guessing those are symptoms and not the cause. Hopefully he lands somewhere and he gets on the right track.

Glover, boykin, yearick and mcginty have all been added. I would bet we will take a look at transfers at safety and on the lines after spring ball. Lozano would probably offset the Smith loss and mcginty will be in the mix already. Suddenly linebacker looks pretty dynamic with glover irons and mckinney in the fold behind Newman and Robbins.

I suspect he is referring to the reference to Irons, McKinney and Glover making our linebacking "dynamic". We really have no idea what those guys can do. Irons, for one, has been in the program 2 years now and has barely played. McKinney redshirted this year and Glover is a walk-on.

There are some other unfamiliar names on the roster which haven't been mentioned. Probably walkons, but if anyone knows anything about them, enlighten us.

Prince Asonye. 6' 220 LB
Devin Crisp. 6'1" 305. DT
Ernest Jallah 5'9". 170 WR
Didier Moncion. 5'8" 200 RB
Josh Newman. 5'10". 180. WR (aparently related to Nick)
Cephas Reddick. 5'8" 165. WR
Ben Thomas 6'2" 260 DL
Josh Tully. 5'10 160 WR
Aaron Waller 6'3". 330. DT

It would be especially nice if one of those big DLinemen turns out to be a contributor.

It's so frustrating to read articles like this. Not a big deal for guys that didn't play much, or have any prospect of playing a ton in the future. But when you lose guys that could have been major contributors (Majors), it's hard to read and understand.

I don't claim to know anything about it but Majors had academic issues and sat a year to qualify before he played last year.

Reddick was on the roster last year I think (and joined as a walkon)

Im curious about the rest, especially Moncion

I was sorry to see Buddy Edwards go and to read the reason. Doesn't give me a great first impression of Daley as OC. Why would you want to come out and say you have no plans to use the FB as a runner in short yardage, especially when you have (had) a beast like him to hand it to occasionally as a change of pace?

My guess is Dailey wants to go with a faster paced style of offense (similar to what Oregon innovated under CK) and a big fullback doesn't have a place and he wasn't going to string Buddy along, so he gave him a chance to go where he could be best utilized.

I see absolutely no reason to believe we will go in that direction. If we were doing away with the fullback position, why was Edwards the only one to leave? All indications are we will still utilize the fullback, but not as a runner, which is something Buddy is good at and wants to do. I personally don't like the idea of allowing the defense to focus exclusively on the tailback in short yardage situations.

I based my post on what manson said in his article about the roster changes, which is that Daley does not plan on using the FB as a ball carrier and that is why Edwards decided to leave. In reading it again and looking at the roster, it is in fact possible he has it right, but we will not have fullbacks at all going forward. The only player still listed as a FB on the roster is Thomas Kennedy, and we also used OL Ben Fiordelise as a blocking FB on occasion. We did not sign a FB in this recruiting class.

The only "defector" who has seen any significant # of snaps in a Liberty uni is Guillory, who has essentially been recruited over with more talented CBs like Turner and Peters

Daniels is a bit of a surprise Impressive HS credentials, mostly as a RB, but couldn't move up on the depth chart in the Spring, and a good-looking FR RB is in the fold I would think he will be exploring JUCO options to play this year, and then, with associate degree in hand should be able to reevaluate D1 possibilities with 3 years of eligibility remaining

Austin Jones spent the last few years at VT, where he struggled with injuries and illness, and didn't see the field Not sure if he was on scholarship or not He has nice size at 6'2" We don't have a lot of depth at the wide spots, so he may get some snaps if he is healthy
