As we celebrate the 18 new members of the Liberty Flames for 2016, the coaching staff already turns their attention to 2017. Here are the players who will be seniors this upcoming season:
Aharown Campbell OL
Kendall Couamin TE
Erwin Dessources DL
Ray Ferguson CB
JaRon Greene DL
Alpha Jalloh S
Will Johnson TE
Daneil Leonard QB
Ryan McCarter WR
Nick Newman LB
Zac Parker WR
Dexter Robbins LB
Wesley Scott CB
Dante Shells WR
Canon Smith
Will Smith OL
Aaron Waller OL
Jordan Williams S
Breaking that down by position looks like this:
QB 1
RB 0
WR 3
TE 2
OL 3
DL 2
LB 2
CB 2
S 2
That is at most 17 scholarships (if everyone on that list is on scholarship) available for 2016. QB is probably the lowest priority on the list since we signed 2 in the 2016 class but theyll probably at least take a look at a few prospects at the position. RB probably will get a few looks since Macon and Mosley are both juniors. WR probably won't get a lot of looks unless the player is a potential game changer at the position. TE will probably be a big focus because we graduate 2 of them this year and we have 1 junior as well. OL will probably get a couple looks but as I mentioned in another discussion, we will have 13 underclassmen heading into practice this August, but stockpiling boys in the trenches is never a bad thing. DL will probably be a position to look at as well even though we have only 2 seniors. LB will probably be a focus for depth reasons. With 2 seniors and 2 juniors, Id expect them to take a good look at CB as well as safety even with a couple signees in the fold, because as with OL, stockpiling talent is not a terrible thing.
Here is how I rank the positions from lowest need to highest:
