Let's not talk about it... Really didn't play bad and was getting lots of praise - just fumbled twice... One center/QB exchange and the other one was a strip/sack.

Typically speaking the practices leading up to these showcases are where the scouts put most of their focus. They both most have been impressive enough in those workouts with the scouts just a few feet away to earn these invitations.

Josh and John are the only 2 from the BSC, and I was surprised to see just how few FCS players there were in all. I didn't count, but if I had, I don't think I would have needed to use my toes.

These invitations are rare for FCS schools each year. We obviously haven't had many over the years and our program has produced more talent than most Big South programs not named Coastal.

my #1 question is where in the world is Petey at during all this, one of the MAIN reasons JW is there and garnering all this attention is because of his counterpart Petey. Have not heard his name much if any at all.

I'm sure he's going to get camp invitations. But Combines generally focus on very specific numbers like 40 times. At his position there are some athletes with eye-popping physical capabilities. He'll have a great opportunity with extra eyes at our Pro Day. The scouts coming to see Josh & & John will get a great look at Petey as well.

This. Unfortunately for Petey he's in a position that is stacked with physical talent. especially this year. and as sly said the combine focuses on those who can perform well in the workouts like the 40. Petey's best chance is to perform well in our pro day and get a chance to take his work ethic to an NFL camp.

SLy is right. There are a TON of receivers with his measurables and a similar skill set, so naturally him and some others like him are going to get passed over for the "gym shorts Olympics". If he puts up good numbers at the LU Pro Day, he WILL get noticed and at the very least get to a rookie camp.

Tru understand ALL that but if NOT for PETEY there is NO Josh Woodrum, they complimented each other and helped each other attain the numbers that they both put up. I guess like they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

That is absolutely 100% not true. Remember, Woodrum was receiving attention from FBS programs. The fact that he chose Liberty over other programs was really quite amazing and just shows you how much Rocco meant to this program. Lastly, scouts aren't just looking at numbers and wins. Scouts are breaking down film in fragments that stop right after the ball is thrown. They aren't watching the receiver make a catch or make a move. They are looking at his throwing motion and his ability to read defenses among other things. Woodrum would have received this invite with or without Petey and Petey would have likely had the same success with our without Woodrum. They worked great together but they aren't directly responsible for each other's success or NFL potential.

Ok, and you act like Peter wasn't getting FBS looks before coming here , both agree they worked well together, but let's not act like JW woukd hv been on that radar and coming from someone who KNOWS how that whole thing goes, JW did work hard but if you think he's putting up the same numbers without DP your insane. Pat Kelly wasn't putting up 100 yd games like that he was possession at best, bottom line doesn't matter just wanna see all the boys do well

Pat kelly I believe had a 200 yard game against stoney brook actually. I may be off a bit but he had some big games.

Yeah, he had ridiculous junior and season seasons for a possession receiver. I believe Jinxy is correct about the Stony Brook performance.

I never said whether or not Darrin received offers or not because it's a moot point. Peterson receiving attention didn't effect the attention that JW received out of high school. He was already being looked at before he ever threw a pass to Peterson. You aren't smarter than scouts...Woodrum received an invite to the combine for a reason.

And what on earth were you drinking when you made that Pat Kelly comment? It's fairly obvious now that you are arguing out of pure bias, and with little knowledge, if you truly believe that Pat Kelly was only a possession receiver. He had several 100 yard games and even a 200 yard game. He was one of the best receivers in LU history.

Don't make arguments about a player being reliant on another player without doing some research first.

PK was not just a possession guy. He was making sick catches all the way back at LCA...but he could drop the hammer and take the top off a defense too. Anybody on here from 2010 remembers his first catch against St. Francis...

Pat wasn't Petey by any means but in my opinion he was the 3rd best wr we've had in the new era behind only Petey and summers. He didn't have a whole lot of help with him his senior year either. Coverage was drawn to him

PK was primarily used as a possession receiver, he was capable of more and did more at times, he was a very good talent for sure.
I don't see either JW or JL getting drafted. Lunsford might make a roster if a team can afford to have a kick off and long FG specialist. Woodrum has the size and arm strength, but he lacks consistency and the ability to throw an accurate long ball. That will be his undoing.

Petey had a problem actually catching the ball on a consistent basis. That would be an issue I think unless you ran a sub 4 40
