CSU defense rarely if ever get confused on defensive assignments. It was Shell that fumbled and not King. The better (coached) team won.

I hope with the resources we are pouring into the program that we can begin competing with the likes of Charleston Southern, Monmouth, and Gardner-Webb.

lack of execution on 3rd down as well as poor offensive play calling, which has plagued at times this year. Not to mention the penalties killed us against Chucky South. However, congrats to Chucky South and their remarkable season as well as hope for a playoff run for them during the playoffs. Needless to say, next week Derrick Henry is going to make this Blue Swarm D look like a soft blue D, but then again he makes great defenses look that way anyways, just ask LSPOO.

On a side note. . . Damian King, Todd Macon, BJ Farrow and Zac Parker are going to be fun to watch over the course of the next few seasons.

Got to improve pass defense, find someone to run the ball, and improve play calling. We should have won today..........and at G Webb and Monnmouth.

For the third time in four years we are going to finish the year unranked. Makes me super excited for next year! Let's be mediocre again!

Jon,

I say this with all the love and respect I have in my heart for you as a friend, brother in Christ and fellow frustrated member of Flames Nation...

Are you enjoying being a complete a*****? You got what you wanted...or at least what it looked like what you wanted from my perspective...Josh failed...now you are gonna lead the dogpile and call for coach Gill to be fired immediately after the Coastal game and apparently sit by your phone waiting for JB to seek your input into who we should hire because you apparently can do no wrong...

Dude. I didn't get what I wanted. I wanted Turner Gill to be hired and for us to take the next step as a program. That hasn't happened. We've actually taken a step back, even with the playoff appearance.

You love stats, so take a look at this:

The teams we have beaten this year are a combined 13-32 against Division I opponents. Our "tough schedule" with "big wins" don't look that tough or big when put in context.

The teams we have lost to are a combined 23-24 against Division I opponents. Take CSU and WVU out of there because they were supposed to beat us, and three of our losses are to teams with a combined record of 10-19.

Prior to this year we had lost to CSU twice in the entire history of our program. Under Gill we have lost to CSU twice in as many years.

I want what's best for Liberty University and Liberty Football. Four years ago I thought that was Turner Gill (and was one of the guys pushing for us to hire him) but it's beyond obvious that it's not.

I've questioned if Gill was the guy for the future in the past but I'm firmly in the open that we need to get rid of him as soon as Friday. There's nothing in his history at other schools nor his recent history at Liberty that says we're anything better than lightning in a bottle once every four years.

Now, for my closing arguments, I will refer you to the team that beat us today: Charleston Southern. Jamey Chadwell came in to a program in much worse shape than Liberty with a tenth of the resources and in less time has CSU ranked in the top ten in the country and outright undefeated champions of the Big South (something that hasn't happened since 2007).

Moglia had worse and has done better.
Chadwell had worse and has done better.

At what point do we admit we made a mistake, cut bait, and move on?

We need some Offensive linemen. That was clearly evident from the first game on. Very disappointed on how this season played out.

Wow BJ...playing the bro in Christ card and then the "call from JB b/c you can do no wrong?" This is a MESSAGE BOARD. People have OPINIONS. EVERYONE WANT what is BEST!!! Expressing an opinion on how to get there doesn't make one an a-hole.

Also, to show how bad we've been, take a look at this:

We have scored 262 points this season. Our opponents have scored 275. Take out WVU (the outlier) and it’s 245-234 against a schedule that is 31-52.

That's progress?

How in the world is it 'beyond obvious' Gill isn't the man for the job? That's a crazy leap at this point. If he isn't the man for the job you'd have to believe that after last years playoff appearance AND win at JMU. Was it beyond obvious or even remotely on joins wasn't the man for the job then?
This season had great highs but way too many downs. Basically this was a Bi-Polar year. Fairly certain no one is pleased with the results. But to cut bait with the guy after 1 admittedly bad year is asinine

Haize - I know we disagree on the coaching issue and we always will. With your background, you're likely always going to feel differently towards coaches than I will.

With that said, I was hopeful after Chima beat Coastal and after the JMU/Nova games. I thought we'd turned the corner. However, this year has reinforced my concerns that I began talking about after Richmond last year. We caught lightning in a bottle and it was awesome. But that can't be what our program is based on. Four years (on top of six at other schools) is long enough to me to know who and what a guy is. Gill is who he is. He's a great Christian leader who will always represent us well but an average plus coach at best.

I'm very disappointed in this season's results on the field. I'm 100% behind Turner Gill. Better days are ahead.

Fun fact just to troll for a minute: if you combined the stadiums of the three Big South schools we've lost to, they could all fit inside Williams Stadium and we'd still have 3000 seats plus the hill left over.

There is no doubt this should have been a 'special season'. With all of the talent on paper coming back, this game on Thursday should have been for all the marbles It isn't and that's disappointing. No argument here. Whether that is mainly on coaches or players is possibly up for debate. Maybe it's because of my background I understand the limitations of what a coach can and cannot do. I want to see what this new crop of players does. Having a QB competition IMO will be a good thing in making the signal caller a little less of a mental midget. Having a WR consistently catching the ball will help.
Gill has done nothing to warrant firing. 1 bad season is no where near justification for that

I can understand an wtf game from time to time. From working with coaches there are just some times that your players go into a game not mentally prepared. Paul Johnson is not on the hot seat but there is a lot of tight Bum holes around here in Atlanta because it seems that (save the FSU miracle) he has lost the locker room. The same looks and feels like it can be said about Gill and our flames. That is a coaches responsibility. And he should be held accountable for it.

Haize: I was tracking with you - and even seeing your side - on everything until the very last sentence.

You say one bad season.

I say two bad seasons (one which was his first which was acceptable) and a horrible season.

In my book, here's how I define the seasons:

Disappointing season = not making the playoffs.
Bad season = not ending the season ranked.
Horrible season = less than seven wins with multiple bad losses.

The first season he did a pretty good job with what he had. Did we tie for the BSC Title? I honestly can't remember. I just know he didn't have a lot of control of the hand he'd been dealt. In a situation like that unless it's a wash and I don't hold it against a coach
This year would be his bad year. He had a lot of players that have been in the program for awhile and for one reason or other they did not perform. Whether that's a player or coach issue is up for debate. I would put more of it on the players. Next year will be a rebuilding year at QB so I don't know what to expect. But if they play with the type of determination that players did his first year, then I'm ok with whatever record. The year after? If we aren't in a position to get into the playoffs we will be having a different conversation

So no matter what, he gets two more years in your book or do things depend on how we play (not results) next year?

I'm honestly asking. I'm intrigued on where people are on the spectrum.
