Something about the calendar turning to November brings out a side of the team that no matter what happened prior, they do exactly what they need to do and make the plays they need to make (and makes frustrated fans wonder where this was in September and October).

People keep bringing it up as if to say, "he barely beat Coastal." Well, you can just as easily say "Coastal barely lost to Liberty." Liberty won the game. Can't we leave it at that?

In the second game, Liberty gave up a ginormous lead. ^ Those are both direct results of the coach and the players. A field goal block, as exciting as it may be, isn't something you can rely on from game to game. For the most part, they are unpredictable and lucky. And while I do believe that a little bit of luck can be needed to win games at times, the fact is that Gill would be 0-3 against Coastal if it weren't for that blocked kick. The "a win is a win" cliche is often the worst way to judge a person or a team's success.VAGolf wrote:Gill is 1-2 against Coastal, with the lone win coming last season courtesy of a blocked FG.I am critical as the next guy, but this point is getting old. I voted they get swept. Pains me to say it.

We beat an undefeated team at their home, with the BSC and playoffs on the line. And we did it with our back-up QB. Yes, we had to do it by blocking a kick at the end of the game. BFD. We deserved that win and Gill deserves credit for it.Undefeated because they beat a bunch of mediocre teams. We should always expect to win the BSC. And the playoffs wouldn't have been on the line if we would have taken care of Indiana State, Richmond or Charleston Southern.

Two things:
1. Today proved that last week's game was pointless in terms of our playoff chances. We needed to win today to make it, and that would have been the case even if we had won last week.
2. We'll have plenty of sexy wins in the future but today's the biggest. I'm into the mindset that today's win will trigger the future of our athletics. The only ingredient missing from an FBS invite is success. Today, we achieved that.
And to anyone who ever suggested firing Gill, shut-up and go over-react to something else.

Last year's success should have triggered something into this staff and team...it's now obvious that it didn't.VAGolf wrote:Funny.
