Gill is 10-13 on the road as LU HC, and 1-4 this season. The lone win coming at Georgia State...where LU fans outnumbered GA State fans. Additionally, Gill is 1-2 against Coastal, with the lone win coming last season courtesy of a blocked FG.

LU's defense allows 407 yards on average when on the road & Charleston Southern averages 412 yards of offense at home.

It should also be noted that the past two times that Gill has beaten Charleston Southern, LU has rushed for 200 yards or more in each game. (In 2012, the team rushed for over 300 yards).

With that said, I don't see LU winning either of these games....although, they both should be close.

You forgot the fact that up until the CSU loss last year, LU was undefeated in the month of November under TG, and 1-0 against Coastal in the final month of the year (thanks to the aforementioned blocked field goal)

We have not shown the level of play needed to Charleston Southern and Coastal since we beat Georgia State. Therefore I say we get swept.

Of course they can...what they are saying to me is that over the first three seasons under Coach Gill this team has shown a propensity to finish the season well. Something about the calendar turning to November brings out a side of the team that no matter what happened prior, they do exactly what they need to do and make the plays they need to make (and makes frustrated fans wonder where this was in September and October).

As frustrated as I have been with this bunch this year, I haven't given up on them and obviously they didn't give up on each other (or they would have mailed it in against PC). I think that they tap into whatever strange magic comes from the 11th month of the year and win both games against CSU and CCU and gives the members of the committee a bit of indigestion as they chow down on whatever free food they are enjoying while they select the at large teams for this field.

I am critical as the next guy, but this point is getting old. People keep bringing it up as if to say, "he barely beat Coastal." Well, you can just as easily say "Coastal barely lost to Liberty." Liberty won the game. Can't we leave it at that?

I voted they get swept. Pains me to say it.

No, we can't leave it at that. Gill was smoked in his first game against Coastal. In the second game, Liberty gave up a ginormous lead. ^ Those are both direct results of the coach and the players. A field goal block, as exciting as it may be, isn't something you can rely on from game to game. For the most part, they are unpredictable and lucky. And while I do believe that a little bit of luck can be needed to win games at times, the fact is that Gill would be 0-3 against Coastal if it weren't for that blocked kick. The "a win is a win" cliche is often the worst way to judge a person or a team's success.

We beat an undefeated team at their home, with the BSC and playoffs on the line. And we did it with our back-up QB. Yes, we had to do it by blocking a kick at the end of the game. BFD. We deserved that win and Gill deserves credit for it.

This is why any coach will always be judged by more than wins and losses.

Gill gets credit for the win, and it's a feather in his cap, but there are things from that game that are negatives against him too.

Undefeated because they beat a bunch of mediocre teams. We should always expect to win the BSC. And the playoffs wouldn't have been on the line if we would have taken care of Indiana State, Richmond or Charleston Southern.

Two things:

1. Today proved that last week's game was pointless in terms of our playoff chances. We needed to win today to make it, and that would have been the case even if we had won last week.

2. We'll have plenty of sexy wins in the future but today's the biggest. I'm into the mindset that today's win will trigger the future of our athletics. The only ingredient missing from an FBS invite is success. Today, we achieved that.

And to anyone who ever suggested firing Gill, shut-up and go over-react to something else.

Yeah, opinions change when you lose to SIU, Monmouth & Gardner Webb. Last year's success should have triggered something into this staff and team...it's now obvious that it didn't.
