Like this kid, real good hands, and what seems to be decent speed.

Had over 1200 yds & 20 TDs receiving this season. New Caney is out of the playoffs so he should be setting up visits soon.

Another committment from a player with offers from service academies, which IMHO shows our focus on bringing in high charactor student athletes. We have plenty of talent returning at wideout, but with the exception of Marquis Fitzgerald, who is a very raw talent, we don´t have anyone with the physicality of Peterson. Harvey looks like he may bring that.

Seems like a very nice pick up. Well Done in the state of Texas again.

New Caney produced one of the top QB prospects in the nation about 15 years ago who signed with the Longhorns. After Chris Simms arrived on campus a year later, Mack Brown tried to move the kid to TE and he decided he would give baseball a try instead. Adam Dunn turned out to be be a prett fair power hitter.

Welcome to the LU family, David!

Here's a local write-up on his verbal:

It was a season to remember for David Harvey.

Along with helping New Caney get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2003, the senior had himself a breakout year at wide receiver.

Harvey finishing among the best in the State of Texas at the wide receiver position in 5A football, drew a lot of attention his way.
On Tuesday, Harvey made his decision on where he will continue his football career committing to Liberty University.

Interesting, again another kid that now has a G5 offer. Will he take that and decommit or stay the course. FBS for four, or sold chance to move up to G5 FBS and have better exposure during his tenure. Signing day can't get here fast enough. Best thing that can be said is that HCTG and staff are apparently picking FBS quality athletes.

Looks like he's on an official visit at Nevada. That developed quickly.

man this kid highlight looks really good, he did a lot of damage out of the slot this year it seems where people couldn't get there hands on him as much. Hard to guage a lot on his routes when he was running by most everyone, but his other tape he seemed to run more actual routes. Kid would look good in LU RWB. Shells 2.0 possibly, I wonder if he stays committed could/would we take the other WR also.

I wouldn't read too much into the timing of this. visit. Keep in mind his visit to LU was reschuled due to weather giving him an unexpected opening in his schedule.

well read a lot into it. Apparently he has verballed to UNLV during his visit (thx snowstorm). Hope he had decency to call or decommit before taking the UNLV offer. Hope kid gets all hes looking for down there. GL to him

I hope so as well. I don't blame kids for doing what they feel is best. However you should be a man and notify the coaches. Hopefully we can get urbon on campus now that he has officially decommitted.

They need to get away from the term "commit". Maybe they should go with "I am declaring Liberty to be my favorite, at least at the moment, subject to change".

anyone who has followed recruiting in the past 5-10 years knows that a verbal commitment means exactly as you stated. especially when it comes to committing to a "smaller" school first. once the mid tier schools like Nevada lose their #1's and 2's etc. on their boards to P5's they start looking elsewhere. This is why coaches spend a majority of their time "recruiting" commitments. they know that until that NLI goes through the fax machine nothing is certain. I agree though, I wish they would shy away from the term commitment.

If you follow the coaches Twitter feeds, you know that we have invested a great deal of time working our existing commitments. Dirty 30 can attest to that fact. Harvey actually played the system the right way. Commit to a school you could see yourself enjoying so they will hold you a spot. If something from a higher level comes later then you can reassess the situation. It is exactly DeCarlo Hamilton is doing as well. Of course from the school's perspective, a commitment should actually mean what the word suggests.

I don't agree with any of the excuses about decommiting. Be a man and honor your word. I don't care where any kid goes just keep your promise. "they changed coaches" you don't commit to a coach. "he is just a kid" then his commit should have not been accepted till he was older. my thinking is you didn't want me for they past 2 years and now that you have an available scholly we will allow you to come here to get beat up on the practice squad. because surely if you were gonna be a starter for us we would have offered 8 months ago.

+1, unfortunately a person's word doesn't doesn't mean as much as it did years ago. I can see a kid changing his mind, but it should be an exception instead of the rule.

It remains the exception these days outside of the super elite athletes who tend to have happier feet than I can ever recall.
