Were about right. I believe coastal is overrated.

Coastal is going to be over-rated all season, until they lose. Even then, they're going to be a top ten team unless they drop two games.

Shows that it has nothing to do with scheduling, nothing to do with play on the field, and everything to do with public perception. Liberty could run the table with this schedule, including a three point OT win at WVU, and never get more than a #5 ranking in the polls.

I'm not sure you are not incorrect

I'd say it has to do with sustained success. The schools that have shown they can do it in the playoffs get the benefit of the doubt. We are a couple years off from being there.

Let's say last 5 years. How many playoff appearances? How many playoff wins?

They've won a lot of games against a weak schedule and made the final four two years in a row. They may not be the best team in the country - and certainly didn't look like it Saturday - but they'll get the votes by default. It's the way the system works.

My bad. They lost to NDSU two years in a row. I thought it was final four both years. It was final eight in 2013.

Even with that, they've won. It's been against the MEAC and closer than it should've been, but they've won. They're likely a top ten team this year and are #1 in one poll in week two. It's nothing to get worked up over. Even if they go undefeated, they'll drop once some of the other schools pick up better wins. It's way too early to put any stock in any poll.

The bar is not high if Coastal is having "sustained success."

Coastal is the most over-rated team in football, at any level.

How is JMU ranked ahead of us? Seems a bit confusing.

To get a pass for consistently skating on thin ice against joke competition? More than they've done. I know that for darn sure.

Just in the last 5 years? Let's look at this murderer's row....

Savannah State, Concord, Kentucky Wesleyan (TWICE), Brevard (TWICE), St. Francis, PA, and Robert Morris (TWICE - one of which was an L).

What's that thing about glass houses??

ND is slightly overrated, but they have major accomplishments (historically and recently) and are on a different stratosphere from VT.

Agreed. And that's not counting the annual meetings with GWU, PC, and CSU (who was horrible at that point).

At this point, I am fine with Coastal being top 3.

West Virginia is listed at #26 in the AP poll & #27 in the Coaches poll. Be nice to see them pull into top 20. Or even higher if they can make a run in the Big 12.

I love that we drop in the polls after a loss to an FBS team! I am surprised we didn't fall out of the polls or fall to the bottom like we have in the past.
