The hats for the Coastal game look pretty awesome.

I have been asked to be less cynical about things Liberty does so I will withhold from commenting on that.

I got you SJ.
This is not an NBA game, we are already trying to avoid the stigma of being super hoosier at games. This sucks , and it will flop. If you get paid to come up with these concepts, you can do better than this.

I tend to agree. If this is a Tim East idea, I can only hope better ones are forthcoming.
I´m surprised noone has commented on ¨The Walk¨. I know we have discussed doing something like this here, and I like the idea in principle. but so far it doesn´t look like they are being very creative with it. The article is not very clear as to exactly what they are doing or what they are expecting the fans to do.

Maybe it's best to let the fans be creative with "The Walk" instead of them telling us what to do?

It looks hokey. Just like anything though, it will be all about execution and how much the gameday crowd buys into it.
Are they supposed to be grilling something? Are those chef's hats and aprons. Because I'll be honest, if they are launching grilled beef into the crowd they have my blessing.

Sorry, it has to be said...
Does no one see red colored, whitey tighties turned backwards... Those are clearly not chef hats and any typical college male student who lived in the dorms would know that.

It's gonna take a while for me to be able to figure out how to word my thoughts that isn't insulting or completely politically incorrect.

Maybe it is suppose to be a joke and that is part of the appeal???
Yeah. Probably not.

It's HOKIE and Tim East did come from VT.

The Hokies do have people that lead cheers similar to this as do other big programs. This idea was thought of before Tim East got here because they advertised for students to join at the end of last school year.

I have been to lots of VT games, they have nothing similar.

If we wanted to do something like this, we should've worked with the cheerleaders to incorporate them into the overall environment instead of having them stand on the sidelines yelling cheers that no one else will ever do with them.
Having people in crazy costumes with their tongue sticking out isn't going to work because people won't take them seriously.
Back in 2009, The LUnatics were asked by the alumni association to spread throughout the crowd during a basketball game vs VMI to help get the crowd more involved. What resulted was Liberty fans yelling at us to get out of the way, to sit down, to stop cheering, and more. I know football is different than basketball, but I vividly remember that game.
Lastly, and I know this is a snap judgment based off one picture on Twitter, but at first glance of this group, they don't look like a group I'd want to follow. The overalls look cheesy. The hats are embarrassing. And the "enthusiasm" doesn't seem authentic. There's a way to look professional and enthusiastic at the same time, and it's now dressing like clowns.
I love the idea of spreading people through the stands.
I don't love the execution.

This kind of thing is done in pro arenas all over the place I know for sure the Nats do it here in dc. The people who do it are in nats gear and just get some cheers going. Nothing crazy or over the top like this. I bring that up because I saw on twitter someone referencing the OKC Thunder and how they have something similar. Again nothing top crazy or over the top just enthusiasm. This is a bit over the top and will probably fade away quickly because the response will not be good.
The thing with the lunatics that jon brought up was good but also executed badly. It should've been made known by big screen anoouncements who these guys were and what they were all about. It wasn't and fans just found it annoying as sad as that is/was.
Anyways this idea will probably flop but maybe it will go over huge somehow.

Yeah, don't like the flamethrowers at all................ look real cheesy. As far as the walk, we need to start some kind of tradition like that, but I would prefer it to be more original. A lot of schools are doing that now. Same thing with dotting the I in Liberty by the band, no originally. Wish I had a better idea (I do, but so far no one seems interested).

Find a stunt eagle and fit it with a flame retardant suit. Light it on fire and let it soar into the stadium to light a giant torch.

My luck he'd land in my seat.
