HCTG has decided on his 2 deep, which also pretty much tells us which Freshmen will play this year.

http://www.liberty.edu/flames/index.cfm ... 87&TeamID=

Biggest surprises (to me at least):

R-Fr Corbin Jackson, who was recruited as a CB, is starting at spur LB. He is also a backup at KR. With him and Newman at the spur and will the athleticism is off the charts.

Starting KRs are Abner and Freshman Jeremy Peters. A true Fr starting anywhere is a bit of a surprise and you normally wouldn´t put your starting RB back there but.....................

Des Rice is listed as the starter at RB over Abner. I do expect they will split reps.

BJ Farrow starting over Shells at WR. I´ve been expecting this eventually, but maybe not so early. I don´t know if it´s more a reflection on how good BJ has been or that Shells has disappointed.

Freshmen on the 2 Deep:

Dontae Duff C
Damien King Slot R
Cameron Jones SS
Jeremy Peters CB

There are also a number of R-Fr starters or backups, so we will be seeing quite a few new faces.

2 players I would think would normally be on the 2 deep but are not are Will Smith and Gerald Holt. Smith I get because he has an injury, plus he is no doubt still getting up to speed with our system. Holt is a surprise. He played a lot at DT/NG last year. I can only speculate he may be hurt as well.

link to vid interview with HCTG- will repost when they put it up on youtube/libertyflames

concerns: OL depth beyond the first 5
happy with WR corps
happy with DL depth
solid LB
feels good about CB
needs to solidify safeties

overall feels good about where they are

The punter is listed as the holder. The two biggest plays of the year last year were with field goal teams, #theblock and the #thefake. Masha must just not get the holds down very effectively.

Oldflame hit them all on the head. Id say we need to watch out for Tyrin Holloway. He has impressed a ton the few times Ive seen, and obviously hes impressed the coaches. He will make lots of plays this year.

One more injury to the OL could be a big problem with the lack of depth and experience. The only one with experience would be Ahrown (sp?) Campbell. That could throw off both the running game and passing game. Praying for good health.

In his interview, Gill mentioned one more Freshman who will not redshirt, even though he does not appear on the 2 deep; DE Juwan Wells. My guess is he is going to see most of his action on special teams.

Smith apparently had a scope on his knee and is out ¨indefinately¨. No word on any other injuries.

No indication of any injury to Holt. If Javon Majors and Spencer Cook have simply beaten him out for the backup positions in the interior DL, that actually may be good news as far as depth is concerned, since Holt showed last year he can play.

He also said there are one or 2 more FR who they may decide to play after a week or 2. The one I thought would play but apparently won´t is Javon McKinney. Maybe he is one of those.

You misheard the interview, because that was my question. Gill wouldn't elaborate on whether it was a scope or not. That would give us a better indication of how long he would be out, because a scope is usually a 4-6 week window.

For some reason the pdf extension is not included when i c&p the direct link to the depth chart. I changed it to a link to the article at the AC site and from there you can click on the pdf link at the top of the article.

The one DL who stands out as being someone who could move to the OL because of his size at 6´3¨ 295 is Gerald Holt. Pure speculation, but that in fact could explain why he has disappeared from the 2 deep at DT or NG after winning the Samkon Gado award as most improved defensive player in the Spring. Could it be they are already in the process of moving him?

So with all these Frosh Playing...

Does that say more about Gill's recent recruiting classes being that good, or his first few recruiting classes just not being that good ? I havent broken down the roster to see who was a Gill recruit and who is still hanging around from Rocco.

Based on the timing of Gill's hire, 2015 would be the last year with Rocco recruits since they would be redshirt seniors

The only players left from Coach Rocco are Miles Hunter, Nolan Spicer and Josh Woodrum.

Starters by class. It gets a little confusing, but I counted the base defense and offense. Also I went with the guy they listed first at CB. (they listed 4 guys for 2 spots). Its a little more balanced than I originally thought. Corbin Jackson is the only Freshman (redshirt) listed as a starter. He will play the Line Backer / Safety , Hybrid position.

Offense :
Seniors - 5
Juniors - 2
Sophmores - 4
Freshman - 0

Defense :
Seniors -3
Juniors - 4
Sophmores - 3
Freshman - 1

BJ Farrow is also a R-FR and is listed as a starter at WR.
