What is your realistic expecation for Liberty Football in 2015 ?
Best Case Scenerio :
Because of our Offensive proven power, I would say best case scenerio this season is winning the BSC out right, and hosting and winning a couple playoff games. Top Four Finish, with two offensive All Americans.

Worst Case Scenerio :
With no major injuries, I can realistically see this team finishing no worse than 7-4, Missing the playoffs of course.

Interested where the rest of Flames Nation :flamethrower Expects this team to finish in 2015.

Best Case:
We upset three of these four: Montana, Southern Illinois, Georgia State, and Coastal.
We run through the Big South.
We finish 9-2.
We make a playoff run similar to last year.

Worst Case:
We drop all four of those.
We stumble at CSU or Monmouth.
We finish 5-6.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Best case 9-2. We would have to beat Montana, CCU, SIU and Georgia State and beat up on all BSC competition knowing it will be hard to run the gauntlet in the OOC part of the schedule without a couple of losses..

Worst case 7-4. We lose to WVU, Coastal, Montana and possibly SIU or, dare I say, CSU.

Best case massive homer scenario: 10-1
We lose to WVU and never lose again until the playoffs. We beat the Griz on a Lunsford record breaking field goal, beat SIU by two TDs, beat Georgia state by 10 and never trail and take a trip in the way back machine and somehow blast Coastal like we did in 2011

Worst case doomsday scenario: 6-5
We lose all 4 of the above games by multiple touchdowns plus CSU. Woodrum blows his acl in the WVU game and Masha breaks his leg the next week and Bo Swanson starts the remainder of the games. Des suffers a concussion, DJ also blows his acl and Todd suffers a lacerated spleen.

If that happens, we probably win 3 games all year.

That is easily the scariest worst case scenario for a football team I've ever seen.

I forgot to mention that we have to have emergency walkon tryouts to backup Swanson.

And they did say worst case scenario so I went with it. we would be on our third string qb and our 4th and 5th string rb...and I didnt even touch on the defense.

If we are going to forget the rules and make up our own definition of worst case, why not go all the way? Entire team is wiped out in a plane crash and all games are forfited. 0-11. Beat that.

If we only have what would be deemed the ¨normal¨ number and severity of injuries, IMHO losing more than 4 games would be a cause for some serious re-evaluation. I know we are all pretty upbeat right now, but the fact is if Coastal had done a little better job of executing a chip-shot FG, a lot of us would have been calling for Gill´s job before the team even got out of Conway.

Best Case: Turner Gill uses his National Championship season to launch a successful bid for presidency of the United States, creating both a new political party and football conference (dominated by the flames), which replaces the ACC in the "power 5."

Worst Case: A disappointing season (i.e. not making the playoffs) and lack of real chance to move up causes Gill to take an associate role at UVA.

without Injuries:

Best case: 10-1
Worst case: 6-5 lose to csu and beat Coastal but miss the playoffs

Best: 9-2 losses to WVU and CCU. At-large playoff selection. Make it to quarterfinals, but narrowly are defeated at N. Dakato St.

Worst: 7-4 miss playoffs

Best Case: 10-1 regular season, loss to WVU obviously, close game against Montana, closer than it should be SIU, a pathetic showing by Georgia State, and an underdog story against CCU with home field advantage and a quick start putting us over the top.
With any luck that lands us in a high rank with a favorable playoff slot and two playoff wins.
I really think this is possible I would say even likely. Our defense is still a ? and there is some wonder as to how good Coastal is. But we get them and Montana at home, SIU is being consistently ranked well below us (I know that's all just shoots in the dark until season starts), and our offense may be unstoppable.

Worst Case: I really don't see how we could go worse than 7-4. Loss to CCU, WVU, Montana and SIU. I really don't see how we could loose to GSU, or CSU. I don't think we should loose to SIU but tough school from a tough conference on the road.
Obviously this puts us out of playoff contention and kills momentum until we can get these strong recruits from COA up and going.

I think you meant, you dont see how can lose to Charleston Southern.

This post is a little bit on the kool-aid side of things, but Im right there with you.

Thanks Your Right CSU.

I go back and forth between the kool-aid and the hater-aid. But with some of the recent changes, the flow of money, the improved campus, and recent success I am drinking more kool-aid these days.

But deep down I want to be a kool-aid drinker but with results to confirm my drink of choice.

I shall be Captain Obvious here:

Best case scenario: We win every game and a national championship
Worst case w/o injuries or off-the-field catastrophe: We lose every game.

Now for the realistic:
Best Case: 8-3: loss to WVU and either SIU, CCU or Montana and a hiccup against CSU, Presby or Gardner-Webb (traditionally there is always that one WTF game)
Worst Case: 6-5 with a win against Georgia State and CCU but losses against WVU, SIU, Montana, Presbyterian and CSU.

Best case 10-1. Losing to WVA.

Worst: Not making playoffs regardless of record.

Note: 7-4 should get us in playoffs as at-large team, in my opinion. based on SOS.

Best case: 10-1 and based off of preseason the only upset would be a home win to beat CCU. If we can make that regular season run no reason we don't get a top 4 seed and a semi finals run into the playoffs.

Worst case: 6-5: If we start 1-3 we could be screwed up enough to lose at GS and CCU.

I honestly don´t get how someone can have us losing AT HOME to Coastal and say it is a best case scenario. :banghead

The WVA game IS NOT an automatic loss. In recent years we have played well against the FBS schools on our schedule.

The way I look at it ¨best case¨is beating everyone we can realistically expect to beat. IMHO that would be 10-1 with the loss to WVU.

¨Worst case¨ is losing to every team that is capable of beating us if we are relatively healthy, but play poorly. I would have that at 5-6 with losses to WVU, Montana, IL St., GA St., CSU and CCU.

Neither of these is what I actually expect, but that wasn´t the question.
