I am bring my family into town for a campus visit and the football game vs. Montana. My daughter is interested in going to Liberty. We are going to be spending about 10 days touring several states and Christian Universities. We will be coming into Lynchburg from Cedarville, OH (Cedarville University). I am looking for someone who has a farm or Big yard that they wouldn't mind a family camping in. Can't afford hotel stays for the whole family along the way.

I don't think I can help, but it might be good to know how many people you are talking about.

If you happen to be a pastor you can apply to use the pastor's cabin at Eagle Eyrie for 2 nights for free if it's not taken.

Why would you go to any other schools? LU is THE place to be.

Wait till you see the price of Cedarville. You can buy a hotel for the price of a 4 year degree there. If I remember right it's around $36-$37,000 a year.

If your family can swing 30 bucks, there's a really nice campground only about 10 minutes from campus on 460 East.

It is not bad if you are the camping type. I'm sure if you can't some people on here would help you raise the money. Right Cider?

There is always Gillville. I was debating going to this game after seeing that flights with Allegiant are $106 total for a roundtrip from central Florida to Roanoke for that weekend.

A family campground/RV park for

alumni and fans would be nice. The RVs come a week early for Florida State games in Tallahassee.

I assume by your handle that you are serving our country. Thank you!
I believe Liberty has some programs that can assist military families with their education. Please check into that while at Liberty.
Google the term boondocking. Boondocking may help you throughout your up-coming tour of schools.
One site (
http://www.boondockerswelcome.com) is really good at locating boondocking sites via a map. Most sites are free to stay at. They list one site between Forest & Bedford, so it's really close to Liberty.
Boondocking is primarily associated with RV camping so don' t know if this helps. Hope so. Anyway, I pray that you guys find the right fit. Liberty was a blessing for my two daughters.
*edit* If you are pulling a camper let us know. I sure we can find a place on campus where you can unhook and set-up.

I am planning on coming down that weekend as well to watch the Montana game. I am planning on camping at the Lynchburg NW/Blue Ridge Parkway KOA on Elon Road that Friday and Saturday. If you guys can set something up then I could meet all of you and could help out with things like food, drinks, setting up, and such but I am meeting an old friend right before the game. Please let me know.

Sorry all. I hadn't checked back because I thought I had deleted the post. My wife got mad at me for requesting assistance on the internet. You know she thought, stranger danger, Buffalo Bill, no way of knowing who they are or their intentions thing. I apologize.
It's me, my thoughtful and concerned and wise wife, and 4 kids. We aren't destitute, just trying to make the trip manageable.
