Anyone else put much thought about what our LB core may be next year...It should be solid, and with talks about Tipton then it just keeps getting better and better

So there is talk of Tyler coming our way again. Interesting.

Obviously we have upgraded considerably at LB. Its just a matter of seeing how everybody adjusts to the new schemes we are bringing.

There are a few names being talked about right now, I would just watch closely at a few school's spring practices cause some decsions will be made by a few people after that time... That's about all the light I can shed as of right now just watch for schools that are on the east coast...

I keep get more and more excited by the day. The LBs should be a good bunch. In one of Roccos interviews he mentioned that he would like to Redshirt a lot of the guys. There is a great idea unlike our last coach who seemed to waste a year of eligibilty on a guy when the season was half over.

I would think that Stevie Ray Lloyd and Manny Rojas would definately start. The other 2 positions are wide open with Adams and Trowbridge getting an opportunity here. Hursky and Duke would be the other candidates as well as an transferes that we can pull in.

Well I already dropped one name if you caught it and still waiting on a green to drop some more but it's not 100% right now so I'm waiting until it is...I dont want to drop names and have it fall through and yall come after me like yall do Coach D!!!!! but with Jennings, when you hear it from the man I did you knew it was gold...stay tuned!

Be careful with that nasty cough, Tally. You don't want to be spreading germs. Next time, please turn your head and cough.

We're going to be ridiculously loaded at LBer.

Any chance we switch to a 3-4?

Yes, 3-4 defense will be in place next year. That was one of the selling points for Stevie Ray Lloyd when he transferred in.

I love the 3-4. Really creates pressure, as the LBers can come from any gap and allows more men in the passing lanes, which adds a bit more confusion to the opposing offense.

With all the talent at LB that we're returning and all the freshman, we should be able to run fresh legs out there like crazy.

Hey guys, just found the board today while looking for Flames' stuff online. I'm an '88 grad now living in the Cleveland area. This thread caught my attention right off the bat because I actually talked to a guy from our local 1-A school here, Akron, who's wanting to transfer and when I brought up Liberty he said that was actually one place he was strongly considering. I don't want to give his name whereas he might be staying where he is depending on how spring goes, but if he transfers to Liberty it would be a huge pick up for the LB core. He'd be eligible right away as far as I know.

Guest - We're glad you found us and you might as well stick around and get registered.

And your friend needs to give Coach Rocco a call pronto.

I believe NCAA rules require you to get a release from your athletic department before talking with other schools. My conversation was only brief with this kid, but I got out of it that he's not sure whether he wants to transfer down yet or not and therefore probably wouldn't be comfortable asking for a release from his coaches while he's trying to compete for a starting spot. I think he's just got a list of schools in his head he's interested in and will contact when Akron gets out of spring ball if he makes the decision to transfer. I wasn't aware until reading this board that Liberty has gone to a 3-4, so next time I see him I will be sure to mention that! We've got to get some more quality linebackers into this program.

He may not be able to call Coach Rocco ... but that doesn't mean calls can't be made on his behalf.

Wow, I guess a few of you guys have connections. I'll certainly ask this kid next time I see him (I usually see him a few times a month) if that's something he'd like to go ahead and get his name to the LU coaches. It sounds like it could do nothing but keep a door open for him if he decides he does want to leave.

some DO have legit connections- the rest of us like to run our mouths! Not me of course. :D

seriously though- there's a pretty good pipeline in place, even if this guy wants to remain quiet for now.

None of us want to be stealing players from other programs. But if the kid wants to come our way then its a different story. Keep us posted in the coming weeks.
