Barring injuries to the offense and the defense with only 4 starters returning playing top 25 defense this sounds about right.

I count 6.5 starters give or take with the .5 being the nickel with that start usually depending on the offensive formation. Don't agree with the rankings only because I see us ranked below JMU who was beaten in the playoffs. That's what it looks like the ranking is really based off of anyways a lot of last years playoff teams.

Don't really understand the love for Coastal or CSU. Think we are ranked maybe a spot or two high right now. We will be hurt by our SOS, especially early, Coastal will be helped again by playing no one.

Coastal Carolina is a Media favorite, much like some of the big schools like Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oregon to name a few.
Is our #16 ranking our highest pre-season ranking ever ?

Coastal is not a media favorite. They have earned their preseason ranking, which doesn't mean very much in the grand scheme of things.

People around here say that and they couldn't be more wrong. It's jealousy coming out because Coastal is better at us in pretty much everything.

If we can continue the success we had last year then it really won't matter and we will begin to flip that perception. It is all about results and other then last year we haven't produced consistently when it matters that most. I look forward to us changing that.

Preseason college football rankings matter about as much as next year's Oscar projections the month after the show.
That said, Coastal is better than us and deserves their ranking, and I look forward to proving it on the field once again at the end of November

I hope our football team doesn't focus on Coastal as much as some of you do... I'd rather them focus on Montana/Southern Illinois/Ga. State. Win those games and we have a real shot at an at-large regardless of what happens vs. CCU.
I want to beat CCU every year as much as the next guy, but if we want to be bigger than the Big South, we need to think and prepare that way. That Montana game should be huge... they beat us pretty bad a few years back.

Its like I said in the baseball forum...don't leave it in the hands of the committee. while I would love to beat Montana and Southern Illinois, at the end of the day, we win the Big South, we are in, no questions asked.

First - Athlon is Craig Haley's Poll. Second, LFN's opinion.
1: North Dakota State Bison
2: Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
3: Villanova Wildcats
4: Illinois State Redbirds
5: Sam Houston State Bearkats
6: Chattanooga Mocs
7: Eastern Washington Eagles
8: James Madison Dukes
9: Jacksonville State Gamecocks
10: New Hampshire Wildcats
11: Northern Iowa Panthers
12: Montana State Bobcats
13: Liberty Flames
14: Fordham Rams
15: Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks
16. Indiana St. Sycamores
17: Eastern Illinois Panthers
18: William & Mary Tribe
19: Harvard Crimson
20: Southern Illinois Salukis
21: Samford Bulldogs
22: Montana Grizzlies
23: Bryant Bulldogs
24: Dartmouth Big Green
25: North Carolina A&T Aggies
This one, I would say CCU is too high. I'll have them at #5 or so in my ballot.

Thanks postie, forgot that little detail, thanks to all that shared title nonsense. If we win the Big South OUTRIGHT, as postie noted, we are in, no questions asked. That better miss Lawrence?

If you took a little more time on your posts you wouldn't constantly be having to correct and or clarify them
As it is I think we finish 2nd out right in the BSC

Coastal-Liberty is going to be a war once again. my question is, will it be a shootout like in 2013 or will it be low scoring trench warfare like last year?

That's still not true. We can share the title and win the tie breaker (like last year) and get in.

My guess is that Coastal and LU will go undefeated in the BSC and whoever wins the game between the two will be undisputed conference champs. Because the game is at The Bill, I like our chances and believe we win the game. It may be the only game CCU will lose all year, they have a very, very weak schedule as I recall.

Their schedule is similar to last years which saw them catapult to No.1 and go undefeated. I see that happening again this year - they should go undefeated . . . until . . .

Sure, the series is tied. However, in most of the meetings, it has not been a "war." Stop following the historic trends and look at the information that is coming out right now.
Based on where we are right now, the team is at a severe disadvantage in a matchup against Coastal and could very well be blown out in 2015.

I look forward to not proving it. In fact, I look forward to proving the opposite, and hope the team does too.

Much to PH's delight, I will try this again...
Coastal Carolina deserves the rankings they are getting. we deserve the rankings we are getting. The good news is, we get to prove ourselves on the field, not on some computer or paper ballot...and that is the way it should be. we get them in Williams Stadium in November...and prove ourselves the best place we can...by lacing up our pads and kicking Chanticleer a** in front of 15-20,000 red clad fans
