Strange timing. We won't have trouble managing things through spring drills while we find a new coach considering all of the former WRs we have in administrative roles.

Charlie Skalaski was actually our WR coach when he was here before.

Pure speculation, but the timing makes me think maybe it is not performance related.

Guess you can't say he doesn't have some valid credentials.

It certainly appears that there is more 'there' there

I know it would be tough to steal him now because of timing but, he would fit in very well.

Hate to hear this, obviously it isn't good when something like this happens so quickly. I won't speculate any more than to hope it is not something that would embarrass the school/team publicly. TG doesn't seem to be a guy who would put up with a lot of stuff. I like that.

Has there been any updates on who will coach the WRs?

Will they use someone among their own staff or are they looking to hire someone from the outside?

As with the basketball coach hire, this is being kept on the down low (although football assistant coach searches aren't exactly highly publicized positions to start with

I forget where I read it(possibly Lang?) but it is not a secret that they are looking to bring someone in to coach the WRs, not an internal hire.

Report: Ron Brown to coach with Gill at Liberty

Football Scoop is reporting that, per an anoynmous source, former Husker assistant Ron Brown is leaving Youngstown State to coach wide receivers at Liberty University. The report says the move is happening "pending final clearance."

Liberty, a Christian school in Lynchburg, Virgina, has Turner Gill as its head coach. The Flames went 9-5 last year and made it to the second round of the FCS playoffs.

No confirmation on our end about this yet, but this would be an interesting move considering Brown only started in January at Youngstown State as a running backs coach after not being retained on the staff at Nebraska.

Of course, Gill and Brown go way back, having coached together on Nebraska's staff for 12 years.

Discussing their relationship in a 2010 story, Brown said: "All kinds of things that have gone in life that you share. That's the beauty of coaching and friendships. Even when you leave in the coaching profession, and you don't stay together forever, you can have a friend that you still connect with in a powerful way. That's very special. And Turner and I have that."

I remember discussing Ron Brown as a serious candidate for our Head Coaching job. To have him coaching our WRs would be amazing.

Nebraska fans approve the hire and say it is a good fit.

Funny post reacting to LU's facilities.... check out #41.

The "manure" comment by the other poster was reacting to LU as "the largest Christian university in the world." With no research done, he is certain that this title belongs to BYU.
