SJ. That is out of control. And I will repeat this on any other thread as well. You guys are raking on one of your CLASSMATES. This is NOT the Christian love we are to exhibit. Don't you think the kicker feels horrible enough as it is without an "off with your head" group on Facebook. SHAME ON YOU!

I didn't start it, I just joined it.
Everyone knows we need a new kicker, we've said it since the first game of the season.

why is it wrong to want a new kicker and making it known?? I mean as long as you aren't being too mean about it I don't think there is anything wrong with this....calm down

Nope. Won't do it (calm down). It is mean spirited. This is a guy many of you go to class with. A student that is having a tough senior year and this may completly jade his Liberty experience.

He's getting his school paid for to kick a football through a set of uprights. Like I said to you in a PM, these are his stats this year:
Extra Points - 13/17 - 76%
Field Goals - 4/12 - 33%
If that was any other job the person would be fired.
He's lucky he's at LU or else he'd be hearing a "Pull his scholly" chant started. I've seen it happen.

Point well taken.

well, i am not being mean spirited....I am sure he himself realizes he messed up big time today....maybe some kids are being mean spirited, who knows....but i think overall people aren't personally attacking the guy....he is a student just like the rest of us, and I would treat him just the same.....but when you are on a full scholarship to play football you realize going into a situation like that, that the student body will speak up about players or positions that need improvement....but if you don't want to calm down, then whatever.....

In most cases kickers/punters do not get "full rides" on their scholarship. As for criticizing the kicker, the dude did miss some FG's and is being called out for it. HOWEVER, if a kick is blocked wouldn't you put more blame on the O line? And how many alligator arm incompletes did we have today? How many overthrown WIDE OPEN receivers did we miss or over throw? I put kickers in the same boat as officials (of whom I have a tremendous soft spot) they don't cost games, but their mistakes, when made are just magnified. Had he shanked the PAT's, come up short on the FG, and we had say more the 2 completions in our passing game, then MAYBE you could have a legitimate bone to pick with the kicker. Otherwise, back off.

the extra point was because of the O line...the other kick that was block was so low that nobody even had to jump to block it

Haize, I don't know if you were at the game or not, but one of the kicks cross the line at about 6 and a half feet. It was so low you could block it just standing there.
Believe me, I want Zach at quarterback big time. Zach moved the ball. Brock was 6-12, Zach was 2-3 throwing the ball. I want Brock at kicker.

maybe he could be like Doug Flutie and Drop Kick the PATs

Agreed.
The guy is not doing his job. His kickoffs have been very good but as far as FGs and XPs are concerned, he is worthless to the team.

So, according to the roster, we've got four kickers plus Brock. One of those, Kolegue, gave us one PAT and his other was blocked.
Do the rest of the listed kickers really have nothing better than what we saw on Saturday? It seems like we'd be giving anyone we could a try at this point.

Haize, from my sources ( which are normally good ) he is on a full ride. Just FYI

Brock Smith may be our only hope right now as the kicker. I know that Brock was recruited to play at Towson as a kicker ( Not sure if it was punter or kicker). We have got to at least give him a shot if he wants to do it. The other 2 kickers on the roster that have not played are not much to get exited about based on what I am hearing.

Just so you know, Mike Gelatt (soccer player) was recruited by Indiana to kick. It was between playing soccer for us and kicking for them.

I blame the kicker for not converting the kicks but I also put the blame on the head coach, he knows the kicker is bad and still puts him out on the field under these circumstances. If you have to get a girl soccer player who can kick the ball, get one. Folks this is not rock science here

I believe that would be geology. The study of the earth, minerals, and ROCKS.

I posted this in the other thread but it deserves to go here too. This is a post from the group:

Man after that game and many of the previous ones... Makes me strongly consider coming back for one more year and kicking for the team again.

If we get 500 members, Scott said he'd probably ask to rejoin the team.
