With the ink dried from the Liberty Flames class of 2015, we finish our look at the trenches by looking at the returners from the defensive side of the ball:

Players Lost

Dylan Bowman
Dominique "Niko" Davis (2014 Big South All Conference First Team)
Toby Onyechi (2014 Big South All Conference Second Team)

Players Returning

Tolen Avery No 2014 Stats (R-Freshman 4Y)
Spencer Cook (R-Sophomore 3Y) 2 Tackles (0 Solo)
Dane Dabney (R-Freshman 4Y) No 2014 Stats
Erwin Dessources (Junior 3Y) 17 Tackles (8 Solo) 1.5 TFL 0.5 Sacks 1 FR
JaRon Greene (Junior 3Y) 29 Tackles (11 Solo) 8.0 TFL 3.5 Sacks 1 FR
Gerald Holt (R-Junior 2Y) 7 Tackles (3 Solo)
Leo Hunt (R-Sophomore 3Y) No 2014 Stats
Javon Majors (R-Freshman) No 2014 Stats
Nolan Spicer (R-Senior) 21 Tackles (9 Solo) 0.5 TFL
Chima Uzowihe (Senior) 42 Tackles (23 Solo) 14.0 TFL 8.0 Sacks (2014 Big South All-Conference First Team)

They say everything is bigger in Texas, which certainly describes the play of the defensive end from Houston, who capped off an all-conference season by blocking a potential game-winning kick against Coastal Carolina, giving Liberty the first playoff berth in program history. He will lead the way along with Greene in the middle. Look for Erwin Dessources to probably stake the off-side end spot opposite Chima. 2014 redshirts Avery and Majors probably will both be in the mix for spots on the line along with Holt, Hunt and Spicer when spring ball kicks off.

I'd love to see an all Houston front this next year with TJ joining JaRon & Chima up there. Dessources really showed some promise late in the season. I am anxious to see what he can do with more PT.

Dessources played well late in the year so you have to think he will be the leader in the clubhouse to start opposite Chima, who probably will be on the Buck Buchanan list next year and preseason DPoY
