Signing day is February 5th. Here's a pretty comprehensive football recruiting update with the way things stand now

Nice summary. All the coaches are out on the road recruiting right now and likely dropping new offers in places like Texas and Florida if the past couple of Januarys are any indication. I'd expect to hear a couple of more verbals in the next week or so.

The hard facts are that some of these kids with FBS offers are going to lose those opportunities by waiting too long to play the game. That often leads them right into our laps.

And we in turn lose the ones that instead of committing to LU early are the ones that are FBS fallbacks/bubble players picked up just to fill out there recruiting class, and even tho they don't play they are "FBS". Then here they come a year or two later after not getting any "time"

One thing I am a bit curious about -- the number of people we've offered who have no other offers. Do we just see something there nobody else does? Seems kinda odd to me, somehow.

Not all offers are publicly reported even though I look as many places as possible. And some of our offers are based on summer camp exposure that perhaps other schools didn't enjoy. And then finally, there are kids who we offer that are borderline qualifiers.

There's only 3 that fit that scenario so far this year: Matthew PIttarelli, Darrell Henderson, and Anthony Johnson.

Pittarelli is a big kid (6'6, 280). You can't teach size.
Darrell Henderson is another big defensive lineman.
Anthony Johnson is a kid from Texas. I'm not sure why he hasn't picked up any other offers because he seems very talented and plays for a team that made the state semifinals. Maybe he's just a kid that's flying under the radar in a big pond in Texas ala Chima Uzowihe.

This seems like less kids with no other offers than the usual to me.

LU isn't recruiting Bonaparte anymore. If I didn't include them in this update, we're no longer showing interest or the kid isn't showing interest in LU.

No QBs on our radar heading into signing day?

Doesn't appear that way.

Is LB Chris Sakamato out of the running with LU as well?

I'm sorry, I misspoke above. I got Bonaparte and Sakamoto mixed up.

Liberty is still in the mix with Bonaparte who also has an offer from Western Michigan.

Sakamato we are no longer looking at.

And as forbidden pointed out above, Damon Smith is another one who only has the one offer from Liberty. So, that makes 4 total with Liberty being the only offer that are still in play.

I know we have Bradwell after 2015 and Swanson also, but are we gonna skip QB this time around and hit the 2016 class?

4 qbs on the roster with 3 being scholly and 1 walkon do we really need 5 with us only a 63 scholly school

Ideally yes. 1 starter 1redshirt 1 good backup 1 to run scout team and 1 to back up any of those role in case of emergency.

Going into the spring we have woodrum, masha, swanson and Bradwell. Masha may be moved to wr (more on that when I look at that position next week) and Woodrum will be a R-Senior this fall. the only for sure QBs we have heading into spring ball 2016 barring injury or transfer will be Swanson and Bradwell if Masha makes the move

4 scholarships is maximum that any FCS team should have for QBs.

I agree as far as schollies are concerned, but 5 total is the number you want. 3-4 on scholarship and 1-2 walkons.

Just because Masha may be moved to another position doesn't mean he can't attend some of the QB meetings and get a few practice reps occasionally so he can be ready if needed.

In most cases, a team should only have 4 QBs on the roster. The only exception is if a team is picking up a quality transfer. In my opinion, 5 is too many.

Also, I am not sure that Masha will be moved to another position.
