Time for a thread to discuss the 2014 FCS Playoffs as a whole, and this belongs in the FOOTBALL forum since we're talking LU football. Thoughts on some of the other games from this weekend? Games this coming weekend? How the bracket looks?
Who are you pulling for in the Richmond vs Coastal game?

Coastal. Hate em both. But Coastal is a conference mate and the more they win the better we look

I still have a problem with Richmond getting such a favorable deal in playoffs. they finished 4th in their conference . they get a home game against one of weaker teams in the playoffs. Richmond should have had to travel to the uttermost parts of the country if they were to be in playoffs. In my opinion they should not have gotten a bid. no 4th place team should be in playoffs.
I hope CCU beats them 70-0.

I'm really torn. I want them both to lose. I think I'm leaning towards pulling for Richmond though.

The amount of guys I know on the Richmond staff supersedes anything for me.

Since its impossible for them both to lose, im rooting for coastal because wins by us and them boost the Big South profile

You obviously have not been paying attention to how seeds and match ups are selected.

I guess I am the oddball here because I am most interested in the Jax State-Sam contest. I'd love to see the Bearkats pull off the upset in Alabama.
As for the game in Conway, it should be fun to watch. I see that being a very high-scoring affair if Strauss is healthy.

I'm pulling for Jax St in that one. I've got a buddy who is an alum. And Jacksonville is closer to Knoxville for a 3rd round game.

I would love to see LU meet Jacksonville State . At one time I lived in Jacksonville about. 1 mile from stadium.
I agree with BJ above in that LU and CCU wins would boost BSC profile . I would like to see CAA become weak sisters of FCS. Simply do not care for them.

I'm not quite sure how they handle this type of scenario if it came down us & Sam. I can tell you that Jax State is close enough for me to drive.

No surprise there.

I can't believe I'm saying this only a week later, but I'm pulling for the Beach Chickens!

But how big of a bid did we put in that late in the playoffs?

I would imagine they would have put in a huge bid on the off chance that it actually happened. But then again, I thought for sure we were going to host yesterday, so...

For what it's worth, Richmond drew 4100 for its game yesterday. I went to a high school game that had more than that.

We had over 2,000 at one of our middle school games this year. On a Wednesday evening.

In reference to NCAA keeping teams within regions when making first round matchups to cut down on travel, I see the Stephen F. Austin had to travel 914 miles to Northern Iowa. If SFA could travel that far, I believe Richmond could have traveled somewhere.

Granted JMU out-bid us, but Richmond should not have gotten a home game vs. Morgan State even if the Spiders put up a bid of $50,000,000.00.
A 4th place team hosting one of weakest teams in playoffs.

Echo, that statement JMU was one step ahead of LU on that one, in thinking just in case we have to bid against LU we better go higher, which they did, but that makes it that much sweeter that they did and LU beat them on there field.
If they are superstisious at all, I guess we know what the uniform combo will be this week. Even tho, when I looked at the KC chiefs game last night that all red combo looked sharp
