God apparently answered prayers for both teams this weekend. Who does he pull for next week?
(Note: this entire post was tongue in cheek. Don't freak out.)

Superjon, completely understand your sentiments. Being a golfer, I have prayed for sunny weather when I'm sure much more Godly men than I were were praying for rain to help their crops so they could feed their family.
Having said that, I would much rather see victories and such credited to God than have the credit laid at the feet of Karma as has been the case in the victory against CCU.

Clearly God changed his mind since the whole team skipped church this morning!!!

As soon as he said that I cringed, not so much because of what he said, but how it was going to be misconstrued by some. He was so emotional/excited, I think it just came out. The rest of what he said was fabulous, especially about former players.

God doesn't care directly who wins or loses any game. His rules for life do have a tendency to commonly reward victory to those who follow them, but even that isn't always consistent with the scoreboard.
I know a debate wasn't the intent of this thread, but given my career I couldn't pass this up. I cannot stand it when Christians pray for wins. God doesn't care about a scoreboard.

Thats my major issue with Liberty athletics.... everytime theres a win God did it... a loss God didn;t help us...
Leave religion off the field. it comes down to talent, chemistry, and execution.
There are Christians on every team i would imagine.
Congrats on the championship, it was there time, they battled hung in there and got lucky. A lot of years of hard work and sacrifice went into this.

TY...I know he is the almighty and all that but just so that I am on the right page, what number does he wear for LU, or for that matter for any team since its almost the first thing that everyone spews out there mouth when something good happens. Great to be christians, and God fearing, but sometimes seems people go just a little overboard.

There is a difference between giving God credit for a win and giving Him the glory for what you are able to accomplish.

So provide some examples where anyone in Liberty athletics, coach, player or staff, has verifiably said that.
According to you the examples should be numerous.

I agree, "sometimes" they do.
In my opinion, however,
MOST of the time Christians are silent about their faith because of fear of criticism - either from people around them that they know don't share their belief or from other "Christians" who prefer silence and are uncomfortable when others do speak.

In athletic events or stone throwing contests with Philistines? I don't seem to recall Jesus speaking about the Olympics, Gladiator Games or Chariot races.

And are you 'JK37'? The question was for him.
And Jesus also didn't debate who would be the better Batman, Christian Bale or Ben Affleck. Relevance? What you've written has nothing to do with JK's statement and my question.

Golly. This is a message board. If you want to have a Private Conversation send him a message.
Plus, my response makes perfect sense. God doesn't care directly who wins or loses any particular game. You asked for a source, I used the Bible as a source.
Finally, Ben Affleck is a horrible actor and will ruin the Batman franchise. He would replace George Clooney as the worst Batman ever.

Yeah, it's a message board and I asked a question of JK37.
Your response makes no sense, and no, you didn't use the Bible. You used your imagination.
Using the Bible means referring to specific chapters and verses (It's kind of the way a book is organized).
I know its hard to improve upon perfection but since you also seem to know what God does and doesn't care about how about explaining your authority source where you got the knowledge to make the statement, "God doesn't care directly who wins or loses any particular game"?

You are the one insinuating that He does. I am unable to provide you with a chapter or verse because there are none saying that He does care. The closest 'sports' reference in Scripture is about running a race in Hebrews 12:1. It does not exhort victory, just completion. I brought up Sport popular at the time of Christ and Paul as examples of things that could have been referenced 'Behold, Tiberius, the Charioteer, his faith has led to favor and victory at the arena." But there is nothing referenced in Scriptutre about God bestowing His favor for a victor in an athletic contest.
So basically, you ask a trick question in trying to prove a negative. I'll ask you (and since this is a public forum, anyone else) to provide Biblical source to prove the assertion otherwise. Proving God cares who wins or loses any particular any game

The original statement from SuperJon was not to freak out. Some of you are on the verge!
Maybe God loves the players, not the game. (See what I did there?)
Also, if the outcome somehow is glorifying to Himself, then I'm sure he cares. Even if we can't see through our Red and Blue glasses how so.

I'm sure He could care less what color your jersey is Saturday. Red or purple, just make sure you're on His side and take advantage of all the free stuff He offers.
Here's to a great game! GO FLAMES!

God doesn't care about a football game and this whole conversation is rather embarrassing. lol.
But I did chuckle at SJ's original comment. Well done.

How about Joshua 5? That's in the Bible, right?
The Bible wrote:
13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?”
14 So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.”
