OK - I fully admit that I know nothing about NCAA 1AA (FCS) Playoffs. I haven't had any reason to know anything about it until today.

I keep reading about a possible game in the burg... why?

You bid for (buy) home playoff games for the 1st round.

Seriously? I thought that was a joke. Why would we bid for a playoff game? Do we think we will win? Have anyone in attendance?

EDIT: OK. I know why we would bid (publicity). Do we think the stands will be empty? Does the NCAA sell tickets (like in other sports) or does the host school?

It's all about the $$$$ and we have more than anyone!

I believe Barber already said we made a bid that virtually ensures playing a home game. Liberty will put more in the stands for that game than most teams (the 1st round is often a money loser). Also, it's the first time in the playoffs. Take a home game any way you can get it just to have that atmosphere one time.

I don't think we will hit 20K but you have to think that we will be between 12-15K in attendance for this one

10K certainly is possible I think. Now not having the students back will hurt things a bit (unless a ton of them come back on Friday), but I don't think we lose money on this one

10K for a first round game would be a great crowd.

I have another question. The only other time we did a "Post Season" game before was back when we played an exhibition game against JMU after the season was over because we missed a game against Furman due to 9/11.

In that game...they kept everyone in the home side of the stands...would they do that for the playoffs or just open the whole stadium.

If you only think 10,000 wouldn't it be better to put them together. Similar to what they would do for the Big South basketball tournaments when they were played in the Vines.

I bet you we do. But then you'd lose money too!

It's not about making money, it never has been.

They'll be giving out tickets left and right next week.

The annual UVA vs. VA tech game is in Friday this year so that's helpful with attendance especially if we played JMU. Hopefully we're not playing on Friday :/

Highly doubt we'll play JMU. Liberty and JMU have better stadiums and more money than anyone in our area. When you look at the local teams that are in or could be in, no one compares:

Liberty
JMU
W&M
Richmond
Morgan State
NC A&T

None of those besides us and JMU have the resources to host. That leave Morgan State, W&M/Richmond, or NC A&T going to us or JMU. W&M/Richmond can't go to JMU, so if one of those get in, there's a chance we get them. If neither of those gets in, A&T will get in. Morgan State or A&T will go to JMU and the other would come to us.

So Richmond this Saturday and Coastal next?

I mean I guess that's nice but I felt like we'd play some new schools in the playoffs?!?

The committee is notorious for not putting teams who have already played each other against each other in the first round for a second go around. I'd be willing to bet. NC A&T or Morgan state comes to us.

Agreed...if we get coastal its probably in the round of 8 or the semis should both get that far

That being said. We may force the committee's hand because of "regional" pairings. I'm trying to figure out who we could possibly play in the second round. My fear is we get put in the NDSU bracket for the "welcome to the playoffs rookies" bracket.

fun fact: Richmond and JMU can in fact be paired in the first round. (which i think might happen) because they did not play each other in the reg. season even though they are conference mates. if that happens I would be willing to bet that we get Morgan State or A&T then wind up playing the #7 seed which is most likely going to be Coastal. Although I would LOVE to play Chattanooga.

My top 3 for playoff opponents:

Morgan State
UTC (just to tick off a certain someone who shall remain unnamed lest PH get all in a dither)
Eastern Kentucky
