I thought about this the other day.

In your guy's opinion, where would LU be at if Moglia was their head coach? What would the future look like?

He's too strong of a leader to ever work here. Would butt heads with the admin. He would've left after year two and we'd be finishing up this year with a new coach.

Could be right about that. We have a history of valuing "Yes" men. Hopefully, the changes in some positions are positive indicators, but one never knows. There are plenty of opportunities for real leaders to step into positions of leadership at LU, but most of those types probably see how the current Admin utilizes control and they keep away. I don't know how much that extends into athletics, but it certainly holds true in other aspects of the school.

Yeah the guy that volunteered to work for this guy
for 2 years for $0 pay probably couldn't handle our admin...careful now your bias is showing.

But in the not so hypothetical world if Moglia can somehow make a deep push into the post season he'll be a dark horse for his old boss's job and Coastal will definitely be looking for a new coach. Talk about a hot seat lets just say Saturday was not a good day for this college football fan.

This is a good chance that Coastal is looking for a new coach after the season, but there is no chance that Moglia gets hired at Nebraska.

Gill is a phenomenal fit at Liberty. He understands his role and the way Liberty politics work. Moglia, the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, does things his way. He pushes for change and structures to be what he thinks is best. Jerry and Jeff wouldn't allow that to happen. They had a coach with too much power and saw it go bad so they won't go back to that.

Not everything I say is a knock on Gill. I may not think he's a good coach, but I'm not obsessed.

Oh there's a chance but as I said he'd be a dark horse...we like people with connections to the program. The last outsider they hired...Bill Callahan got himself and his boss fired (people hiring remember these things). But IMO the next man up at Nebraska is Scott Frost...bring back the 90's baby!!!

Ha. Just realized 09 was talking about Moglia working for him and not Gill. That's what I get for reading and posting while, um, depositing lunch.

Moglia was a massive gamble by the CCU administration that paid off. We are in a position to theoretically avoid such gambles.

Yeah, i know that I am avoiding the original premise. But there is zero chance something like that could happen so why even entertain the thought. To follow the Nebraska theme of this thread, how good would we have been if we had hired Tom Osborne?
