Unbelievable--we won the game in OVERTIME on a DEFENSIVE stop against an FBS Sun Belt school!

Amazing ending and a great effort by the guys. We could have given up many times and didn't. With our MLB's out the guys didn't play good defense, but played good enough.

It didn't look like any Appy Players joined us for prayer. Their FCA program must not be very big

That had to be a gut punch to these App State kids. Losing to an FCS school with kids you probably played in HS ... on Homecoming.
Obviously this is huge for our kids. They desperately needed to see one of these games go their way for confidence purposes. Now they get to soak on this one as we head into the bye week before conference play begins.

But seriously, great win after such a gut wrenching, emotional loss last week. What a great defensive play to win this one, wow! Hopefully some Sun Belt presidents/administration will pay attention to us a little more after this!

I don't blame them, they are under no obligation to do so. Not a huge deal, I can understand them being very disappointed.
The question is now, can we win the open date game.

Our radio guys did an excellent job with the call of the game. Love the enthusiasm when we scored, especially the last play of the game.
A couple of observations, our OL did a good job as the game went along. Never thought Abner would be able to run 100 yards against anyone.
Our D played just good enough to win under very trying circumstances,
Our O is almost unstoppable against FCS teams.
Our receivers played 100000% better today. Hopefully they can keep it up.

This could be a turning point for the season. Its great to go into the off week with positive momentum. I dont know what coach Gill will do but I'd give the boys Sunday off...relish the win on the ride home and start game planning for Gardner Webb
I think Shells got a hold of Petey's man child pills before this game because HE was almost unstoppable tonight

This is how I sum it up: NOT counting Brevard(I think you know why)
3-3 in OOC for 2014
Loss to UNC 56-29- In it till late 3rd
Loss to ISU 38-19 outcoached/bad day period
Loss to UR 46-39 in 2OT - winnable but didn't finish
Win - NSU 17-0 bounce back after UNC
Win Bryant 38-19 last of 3gm win streak - starting to look ok
Win App St. - 55-48 OT - gut check for the boys and they finally pulled thru
This is not bad at all for all the flack that HCTG has been receiving, yes some things need to be tweaked but I think we are in good hands considering.
Yes, we were a muffed punt away from losing, but the way I see it they have 85(80) schollies we have 63 that is 22 better athletes on our team, we have those 22 players spread out across the field in different spots we win going away.

I hate to be that guy - I know a win is a win but as unassuming of a win as I can remember. Coastal is going to eat us alive - they are leaps and bounds better than App.

True. But it other teams have joined us in post game prayer, win or lose. It just plays into my perception of them being a bunch of self righteous, granola eating liberals who think they are better than everyone else and living off the past.
But I'm sure deep down they are good people

C'mon TDD...can you at least pretend to be happy we won tonight?

My biggest question coming out of this game: Are our defensive problems coming from our scheme or our players? It's obvious our DBs aren't that good right now. We're also missing our best two linebackers. Was the man to man a good scheme that our DBs couldn't execute or was it a bad scheme? Would we have been slowly picked apart with the soft zone had we done that?

Glad to see others enjoying the meltdown on the Sun Belt board. I have to admit that is rather satisfying.

They were only 12 points better than Presby today and 1 point better than NC A&T. They are good, don't get me wrong, but I believe we can beat them IF we get our MLB's back and have no other significant injuries.

I don't see how, I don't see Coastal having the offense that ISU has so that alone tells me it will be another close game

I'm not enjoying Rooster/Knucklehead be the obnoxious winner.
