UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 17/18 Richmond football team was edged by the No. 7/8 New Hampshire Wildcats, 29-26, Saturday evening in front of a crowd of 8,404 at Robins Stadium on Family Weekend.

The Spiders fell to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in the CAA, while the Wildcats improved to 2-1, and 1-0 in the conference.

"The game was back and forth," Richmond head coach Danny Rocco remarked following the game. "I had a sense that it would be a little lower scoring than what most people might have thought. Both defenses rose up to the occasion at times in the game. I think the biggest thing for us was the inability to take away the ball."

Well it’s official. It takes more than multiple uniform combinations to be a winning team. Hopefully Gill will have the troops in order for the Richmond game, and if the return of Rocco & Co., doesn’t motivate him I’m sure the outcome of Charlie Weis will.

However on a positive note the new football helmets (large / mini) are in stock.

This is a big game for Richmond too in terms of playoffs. So you have Liberty's inability to win a big game vs Rocco's inability to win a game with playoff implications. One of those things will have to change Saturday.

Richmond is going to try everything possible to win. There's probably going to be a specially designed trick play or special team option just for this game.

I agree with bluejacket above. This is most important game of Coach Gill's era.

We MUST win this game, regardless of score. We need to give Rocco a rude homecoming.

I do not like Spiders, those under my house or those at University of Richmond. They all need to be stomped.

Alright, serious dilemma here. I've been dying to go to this game for the last year. LU vs. Rocco. LU vs. Richmond. Playoff implications. Biggest LU non-conference game inside Williams Stadium - ever.

My dad just texted me saying he's trying to get us a flight to Detroit for the Tigers playoff game on Saturday. My whole family is from Detroit, and my dad is a lifelong fan. Do I really say no to him if he gets me a plane ticket and playoff tickets? I've never been to a playoff baseball game before, and it is a dream of mine.

Thoughts?

Go with your dad...while this probably will be the only time we will have a matchup with a former coach, going to an mlb playoff game with your dad could be a once in a lifetime opportunity

You all bring up valid points. I guess I can't go wrong either way. Haize does bring up a good point, but if Liberty wins, then there will be more jubilation with that then there would be for a Tigers Game 2 win. If flights arranged correctly then we are going to Detroit, if they don't I'm going to Liberty.

Yep, go with your dad. Our game with JMU a few years ago was as big or a bigger game and we will have others to come. Detroit has a much better chance of winning than we do, we have 40 years of history to prove it.
