There's still seven minutes left. We're not gonna win, but it's a little early for this thread since the actual game is still going on.

I have come off my anger high. We did some good things but I think we have much of the same this season as most have become accustomed to.

True or false: Turner Gill is David Bennett with a better playing career, higher profile, and less southern charm.

I see this team not making the playoffs again.

Too many turnovers. Too many dropped balls.
The announcers made the point that Woodrum is staring down his receiver too much. Wasn't that his problem last year? And the year before?
Of course, we have to consider the team we played. We played a pretty good, nationally ranked team. If we play this well the rest of our schedule, and can fix the turnover issues, we can have a really good year.

I believe I was chided for citing turnovers as the key to this game. Sometimes I wish I was wrong.
For the shots at Josh, he wasn't the one dropping all those balls.

This loss isn't on him. Nobody is saying that sly but it's hard to ignore his lack of improvement.

Bad game by offense for about a five min stretch in the 3rd. Problem with defense was with Inc tempo they scored way to easily off of tons of bubble screens. Too many drops by the wrs period. Too many fumbles by rbs period. Missed tackles by defense, but with all that said we were right there with them, and they were shaken.

What I did notice was when we did hv everything covered their qb was able to keep things alive with his legs, I wonder if we hv that.

I think UNC had a clanging bell sound effect: I wish LU could copy that.

Petey 'Featherstone' needs to catch the ball.
Streamline how the offensive plays get to the huddle
That's about it. I thought they looked a lot more comfy than in years past. Not to give it the Dark Side Curse, but I thought we looked fine

The way we lost was more frustrating than the actual loss.

Win or lose, THAT was entertaining. Really saw a lot of talent for us, a lot of young talent. Gary Sampson, Todd Macon, Avery James, and alpha jallah (sp?).
Third quarter was a huge disappointment but the reasons for our failure there were obvious:
Special teams play was poor and not due to coaching. We have, to put it sensitively, a very raw and undeveloped punter. Gave great field position to UNC consistently. So by default any turnovers or changes of possession took place deep in our territory. Woodrum did the best he could with what he was given. I place a lot of blame on Zac Parker's ill advised return after unc's first touchdown in the third. Was undisciplined and immature. Blatantly ignored Gabe telling him to kneel. Tried to make some wild run out of end zone with busted protection and was tackled out at the 10. Woodrum came in tried to force it and was intercepted, bringing us to td #2 in the third for UNC. All downhill after that and the same crappy field position. Tried to force plays that weren't there. Was all downhill from there. We can't let something like that poor decision by a freshman derail us but it did.
Need a punter. Also need a pair of receivers, not sure what happened to peterson. Fundamentals of ball protection are not understood by many on this team. Woodrum needed some weapons but had very few. Consistency is pretty much just Hagen and woodrum (or at least they were the most visible examples of dependability). Everyone else was too nervous I think.
Scattered thoughts I know, but I believe there was a way we could have won that game. With all these issues, I still believe we can look forward to a playoff season. So much talent on this team.
Ps Have always thought Abnar should be the starter. Even last season.

Obviously you r watching diff game, they r coached up on sleep teams as to when they should return kicks, and sacs return was in no way indicative of how the offense played. Wodrum forced that throw, period ran that same play cpl times earlier in the game. Staring down wrs. Is a wb prob not freshman problem. No modems of consistency by the offense as a whole. We need some ads besides Petey. No wr besides Petey scared any unc defender fact

Lang says Peterson's arm is in a sling. Hurt it on the fumble play early. That may explain his drops after that.

Than he or the medical staff should have pulled him.

I wouldn't be so hard on the punter, it was his first collegiate game, and he had a couple decent punts...I mentioned this in the game thread, but we were in a catch 22...we either sacrifice field position or chance putting the ball in the hands of one of the most dangerous returners in the FBS

Charlotte Observer wrote:UNC overcomes slow start with dominant third-quarter stretch in 56-29 victory against Liberty
CHAPEL HILL North Carolina sputtered for long stretches on Saturday night against Liberty – a botched punt that led to a safety, a confounding penalty that led to a touchdown, a fumble that led directly to another.
Midway through the third quarter, the Tar Heels were losing against a lower-division opponent. Kenan Stadium was silent. Doubt, perhaps, was creeping in.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Rarely has the tenor of a football game changed so quickly. At one moment in the third quarter Saturday night, Liberty was celebrating a Jacob Hagen fumble return for a touchdown. The energy was sapped from Kenan Stadium, save for the two sections of red-clad fans tucked neatly into one corner of the stands.
Then came what can only be described as seven minutes of hell, at least if you were standing on the Liberty sideline.
